Yeah, some people are the same way (me not among them!).

So, everyone has obese cat problems these days with the yummier catfood, and that's bad...but if Link Removed isn't getting portly, is her shameless gluttony a health problem?

Or does it possibly have a health upside?

She drinks staggering amounts of water from her cat fountain, so she's properly irrigated -- a big health plus for cats, who tend to not drink enough and develop urinary tract problems.

She looks healthy enough to me, and very cute. Is she very active outside the house? That would explain a good appetite.

I have two cats (sisters) and they eat about the same amount. One of them is always out and about everywhere and she's put on very little weight in years (she's 7). The other is more laid back and is starting to get more "cuddly", but is still capable of landing on me from a great height unexpectedly from time to time (as she just did whilst I was typing this post).

No, she's an indoor cat who only goes out on the patio to watch me work in the back yard and sniff around. She won't step off the concrete because the grass tickles her toes. She gets bored and goes back in after a few minutes and then follows me around all day to be petted and brushed and talked to (she's in her bed in the studio up next to the rack unit watching me at the moment).

She eats because it's fun and she likes it, not because she needs refueling. The only thing that keeps her from being one of those wheezing, forty-pound cats with collapsed joints is her genes.

She's quite healthy and vigorous for her age (about thirteen), but I wonder if that's because of or in spite of her mammoth intake of chow. :confused:

A recent change in weight may indicate cancer or other disease/disorder.

If she's always been this way, it may be her natural metabolism, or some sort of parasite (some of which are harmful, others just eat your food).

No, she's not losing weight. She's a tiny bit plumper than she was a few years ago, but still in the healthy range. No sickness, no parasites.

It's no mystery, she just doesn't get fat because of her genes. I just wonder if eating all that food is good or bad for her or totally indifferent.

[She's somewhat like this skinny blonde model I used to hang out with years ago. She had a standing bet she could out-eat anyone, anywhere, any time. She could, too. She once ate a whole roast turkey (and a big one) on a bet and didn't even get tired. Kept it down, too. No hurling. Some chick, I tell you. From Texas, naturally.]
