Removable back panels make it very hard to seal and brace the cabinet and keep it rigid. Not impossible, but much harder.

Looks great so far!

According to WinISD the port air velocity is over 120 m/s at 40 Hz with the 44 mm ID pipe. I have no experience with these, but everything I've read suggests that this is FAR too high. An 81 mm ID port results in a 35 m/s velocity. Perhaps those who know can offer a reasonable limit or guideline as to an ideal or acceptable port air velocity?

As for how to mount the speaker, most bass cabinets use drivers that drop in from the outside while guitar cabinets use a removable back panel (or are open) and the driver is screwed to the baffle from inside the box. I assume this is done so that the box for bass cabinets can truly be sealed without having to rely on a tight-fit or gasket with a removable rear panel. That's how I'm making my sealed 2x10 ... when it's done the only access to the interior will be through the driver holes.

Also, great idea about mounting the driver (getting the lingo) from the outside and using this for interior access

What about driver protection grill?

With my 2x10 I'm going with an inset baffle and a removable grill cloth on its own frame, so this isn't something I've really looked into. But I've seen some use a separate round grill cover that (I think) screws into the baffle from the outside overtop the driver.

I ended up making my own circle jig for my router for the 89 mm (for 90 mm pipe) hole - was difficult to get the screw pivot in right place, did it by measurement with calipers then trial and error on a piece of scrap wood.
I only finished last night and my portuguese family came round so I only got chance to try it briefly but it sounds great to my untrained ear
It goes quite loud, but is limited by the 5W nano amp distorting (which i like )
A mate is bringing his Bass amp from UK when he comes for a visit later this month
Rice test today
Vent pipe is just a tight push fit at the moment, when I'm happy its the right length I will bond it in.
Then its time to 'paint it black'

I'm curious to find out how the rice test frequency compares to the predicted frequency/length.

Be sure to post photos when you get it painted and the grill fitted.

Rice test gives between 40 and 40 Hz. I think 40.5 or 40.7 but differentiating between 40 and 41 is getting a bit subjective. Although its very similar at 40 and 41 so assuming a symmetrical rice jiggling minimum that makes sense. I used higher volume but must be quite a flat minimum.

The pipe length was exactly the 136 mm prescribed
The pipe internal and external diameters were exaclty90 and 84 mm as assumed.

I wanted to do the test directly from phone to cab to avoid any possible colouring by my little amp,but it wasnt loud enough. I kept all the dials neutral on the amp

I wondered what to do with the rice afterwards

Next project will be looking at the effects of making a smaller cab for the same driver

You might be able to go a bit smaller. Really you just need to adjust the ratio of dimensions. Make it taller, but not as deep. Gets the driver up off the floor. This will also make the footprint smaller for taking up less space.

Well, I can't vouch for the results, just that it runs... The thread caused me to download and check as my dual boot laptop is refusing to boot Windows 10 at present. I also looked at the online resources.

But TBH I never got on with Wine, at all
I was using a Windows instance in a virtual box, but then decided that it was just easier to dual boot into Windows when needed

Yes, some things don't work on wine. But
sudo apt install wine takes three minutes, which is much faster than creating a Windows VM, especially for people who don't have a copy

Painted (by my lovely wife) and tube glued in. Just waiting for grill and corner protectors to arrive.

It ismatte black but the light in photo makes it pook glossier than it is.

I designed a new one to fit in my bedroom with hqlf the dpth and twice the height.

Then, in a fit of gay abandon, I ordered a Markbass Marcus Miller CMD 101 Micro 60, so wont be doing the second cab.
