Chad Michael Horne 1987-2010 - Killed by a Drunk Driver

I don't have words to put this well, but you have my deepest sympathy.
Keep your faith, and your love for your family, they will help you through the pain of this senseless and needless tragedy.

My most sincere condolences. Reading your post was heartbreaking. As others have said, stay strong but make sure to deal with your anger in as healthy a way as you can.

Thanks for the prayers. This is not about me. Please pray for my brother and his wife - Michael and Laura Horne. Also, please pray for my brother's ex - Carrie Ticson-Smith.

As far as keeping the faith and losing the anger, I came very close to reversing that equation. I feel absolutely horrible about that, and I need to work that through. This crisis made me question whether or not my faith was real. I have asked the Lord for forgiveness for even entertaining that kind of thinking. I'm a freakin' mess right now.

Commreman you have my deepest sympathies and condolences. My thoughts are with you and the rest of his loved ones. After such a huge amount of tragic loss, I can only wish that the future shines brightly upon you with good fortune to try and make up for the darkness you are going through right now.

Thanks for that link.

For more information, here is a link to an online article in one of the local Lehigh Valley papers that details the monster that killed Chad:

I've been busy since this afternoon. Through a great business associate and friend in the area, I got my brother and his wife hooked up with the right attorney, and also spent a considerable amount of time on the phone with the New Jersey representatives from MADD. They are going to put me together with the Pennsylvania branch, and I think that they are going to work together on this case.

The sadness comes and goes in waves, and is followed by a numb feeling. Just being able to talk about this with friends, and being able to share here is tremendously helpful. I am told that this will never really heal. It will be something that I will learn to live with. I downloaded a list of psychologists that accept my insurance this afternoon, and next week I will begin contacting and interviewing them. I will probably meet with my priest this weekend for a chat as well, provided that we don't get snowed in too badly.

Nine years? What a joke. Even 30 years is a joke.

Hang in there bro. Let your family know we'll be thinking about them. Anything we can help with that Wegmans has not covered? :D

In Israel you get much less for these stuff, It's annoying how criminals get out of problems easily.

Drunk drivers are the worst.

My condolences to you and your family.

Very sorry for your loss :( always unfortunate when a life is lost, more unfortunate when it's caused by someone else's stupid actions.

Best wishes to you and your family to get through this incredibly tough time.

My condolences to you and your family.

However, this one is certainly horrible for me as I lived in Bethlehem for four years, drove that road often, and was the same age as your nephew. I can only imagine the loss that you are feeling, and I can only express my deepest condolences and prayers to you and yours.

My sympathies as well. Be strong, but let it out when it needs to come out.

The thing that everyone can do is this - take nothing and nobody for granted, ever. If you have kids, nieces, nephews, parents, friends, whatever - take the time to let them know how you feel. Be with them. Hug them. You have no idea when you won't ever be able to do that again.

Too often, we get caught up in the day to day grind, chasing the almighty and diminishing dollar, holding silly grudges, trying to acquire the latest and greatest gadget. It's all nonsense. We need to focus on what is really important.

Quoted for truth and a reminder to all. I lost my brother some years back, and there's so many things that never got said or done that never will. Anyone who's reading this, get up from the computer for 30 seconds and go tell someone important to you that you love them.
