Chambered effect on Tone

The only chambered J type bass I've played is the Sadowsky NYC models. IMO, the chambering of those models makes the bass a touch lighter (nice), but I don't hear a significant difference in tone compared to the heavier Metro models when all else is similar in the spec. IMO, this is a good thing!
Would like to hear more on this. I've got a chambered Warmoth Jazz body that I'm putting my Geddy's neck on. PUP's are Lindy Fralin's. As soon as I get it together, I'll post some results as to how it goes...
PS The body on this thing is LIGHT - as in I can hold the body (at the neck pocket) and easily maneuver it holding it between my thumb/forefinger. My back is gonna LOVE me for this!

Not at all a similar bass(to a J)but my neck-through Stambaugh 6 is chambered. The upper register is a bit more complex &(dare I say it)g****r-esque in tone; the low end seems to be largely unaffected except below low D, where it loses just a bit of clarity. I imagine that the small amount of chambering possible on a Jazz wouldn't have a huge tonal effect.
I'm not sure it applies 100% but - a Rumblefish could be considered either semi hollow or chambered depensing on how you look at it. The non standard (not wood) top and back are going to have an effect for sure.
Mine display's an more nuanced tone. There's more harmonic stuff going on and a correspondingly less dominant fundamental. It records wonderfully with a naturally complex tone - if you want it. If you don't - put it down and pickup the solid body which comes with less of that stuff and so may sit in one mix better than another ...
Under a clean guitar, percussion and a voice, the Rev works great - In a more complex arrangement, with more going on in the low end, maybe a less complex native tone is a better fit...

Thanks for that. I've found definitive info hard to find on this. I guess the fact it's so hard suggests the colouring is minimal, and I could live with that.
I think there is, or was, something on the Sadowsky site about that saying the effect was minimal. (at least with his stuff)
He would probably be the guy to ask given that he makes esentially the same instrument mutiple times either way and probably has a larger base of experience to draw from than most.
