Who has changed out 10's? What did you use, and what was your results? My 4x10 Classic Cab finally let go and I get to order Speakers. I was debating the Celestion green back 10's. What did you use and how did you like it?
Hi there!! Try fliptops.net, they sell speakers for every ampeg application, they say eminence is best (my svt 410HLF is equipped with eminence speakers, but i think those from fliptops are upgrades). Rem's
See, I'm not positive that these are eminence speakers that I pulled from the cab. They aren't labeled eminence (or have any markings for that matter) and the feel awfully cheap and brittle. I will look into this page.
Greenbacks are guitar drivers, not the best idea for bass. The OEM Ampeg drivers may appear 'cheap', with smallish magnets and stamped frames, but that's how drivers optimized for sealed cabs should look. Uber-magnet drivers don't work well in sealed cabs. As for a suitable replacement, first you need to be sure of what you have, then you need to be sure that whatever you intend to replace them with will actually be an improvement. Geenbacks, for instance, would be a major downgrade from the original OEM.
I am not speaking of the guitar drivers. These ones are specifically for bass. http://professional.celestion.com/bass/green/index.asp
Those are the new neo Green series, not Greenbacks. Dealers can't get any inventory. Apparently the ship carrying the shipment from China was hijacked by Somali pirates.
my guy at guitar center said he has inventory on the ferrite magnet speakers, however, the orange and green neo's are out of stock until FEBRUARY. what do pirates need all those speakers for? are they starting a metal band?
They bombard would-be victim ships with Barry Manilow songs before boarding them in order to soften up the crew.
