Changing strings every year?

If you're getting a year out of roundwounds, please share your secrets!

I typically get a year out of quality roundwounds, and I use a bright gritty sound. I simply don't have sweaty hands, and I always keep my basses stored in cases when not being played (as a result strings don't get dirt build-up).
When I use DR's it was usually 12-14 months from either highbeams or sunbeams (My MM Sabre still has a 2yr set of highbeams still bright). If I use R.Cocco's I can get 12 months from nickels, but only about 7-8 months from their stainless.
Boomers to me are cheapie quality and I sometimes use them, but 3 months tops and they're dead. Ernie Balls -forget it, they die in about two weeks for me.
