changing the input to be stereo?

So I've got an extra amp, tc classic450/rs210 I'm going to use as a boombox in a pinch. However, when I plug in the aux cable the sound is strictly mono. If i bought stereo cables would it rectify this or can an instrument amp of this sort only output in mono regardless?

That instrument amp will be forever mono only. The best thing you can do is use a mixer to blend the L and R channels down to mono before feeding it into the amp. The second-best thing is to make a cable that's stereo at one and and mono at the other, and just tie both "hot" signal wires of the stereo end to the one "hot" signal wire of the mono end.

I wouldn't "just tie both "hot" signal wires" I use a simple circuit to sum stereo to mono. More info:[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

The reason it will work in this case is that (a) both outputs are equally buffered, and (b) both outputs have the exact same ground, with zero differential. But I agree it's an inferior approach, which is why I said a mixer was the best.
