I like the natural body binding effect and the EMG pickups, and I have never played a bad Schecter. Charles has used many a Schecter in his videos. Having Schecter vs LeFay as his signature manufacturer makes the instrument a lot more accessible to his younger audience, us curmudgeons can just shake our fists at the sky and wish for the better days where the only signature instrument was a Les Paul.

Gawd, why do people hate skilled players that work their butt off to be successful? He has even played schecter for Years!

People won't watch a video of a fella playing root whole notes, because it's boring. But to assume he can't is absurd.

He comes off as a genuinely nice dude as well, so might as well hate him for that too.

I don't get it.

My working theory is that since TB is comprised of mostly older users, they tend to hate on whatever is currently happening in the bass world in the online sphere.

It's more of internet and such being leveraged every single day, it's different, the music is being created, consumed and shared differently. Suddenly it's harder to follow, there are people coming out of the woodwork left and right with crazy chops. Egos get bruised. Change is scary. Doubts creep in.

That's the best I got.

On different platforms, nobody cares. TB is just cranky like that. But, granted, I do not use other platforms except YT and TB. No account on other sites.

"Who?" is such a cop-out in these kinds of threads. It's sad to rag on someone getting a deal like this.

All I know is he is in a class of his own. I think the only other person that is in his level would be Wooten and Manring. I'm just talking about his sheer technique. Not in regards to his compositions, which are crazy good as well. That kind of talent cannot be taught so I don't even try

Charles has a music degree from Berkley, that counts for a lot to me. It means he's a schooled musician and reads music and understands theory which the majority of players don't, many don't want to and brag about their lack of knowledge. Cool you do you. For me, more knowledge is always better.
I also believe he makes over 100,000usd yearly from his Youtube channel. Recording videos at home, no road travel, no late nights, no dealing with knucklehead band members. Not everyone wants the traveling musician gig. He'd have to be in a good band to make what he does on his videos. I believe he's married with a kid and enjoys being at home more with his family, shame on him.
Now I'm not the biggest fan of his style, I can do about 10 minutes and I'm done. But damn, good on Charles for making that $$ playing bass on his terms.
P.S., don't dig Schecter and won't be getting his signature bass.

Look like Optima Gold plated strings. John Entwistle used them. I had a set for a little while, but didn't think they were anything special.

I liked them a lot. I was using Dean Markley back then and I found the Optima sounded much fatter plus, they're resistant to corrosion. I still have two unopened sets. They're only 4 string sets which is why I haven't used them. I may end up selling them.

The meaning seems to have a drifted from "the bass this artist specifically and exclusively uses" to "this artist likes this bass". Fender seems to be teasing a Keanu Reeves signature bass, and I'm sure everyone will be falling over themselves to get what's just another P bass. It's hard to not be cynical about these basses as shameless money grabs.

Some people just can't extract themselves from the hullaballoo that market pushes. There's obviously enough of them around for companies to keep it up. It works.

True, they didn't. The company failed and then an unrelated company bought the name.

I was joking, kind of. I find his "silly" stuff (the wigs and characters and all that) and aping and wanking for the camera a bit obnoxious. But he more than makes up for it with his chops and musicality.

OK but if said player throwing footballs is reaching millions of more people interested in football than an actual NFL player, why wouldn't nike do that?
