Just won a Charvel 1b on ebay for 221$ I loved this bass in the late 80's and regretted trading it in. Even same color as my old one. Maybe Claudia won't notice it.....

although people cringe when you say charvette, there is also the model 400 single-p which is plentiful.
If you are the type of person who would replace the pickup anyway, an excellent alternative. ( I still have and use mine with a EMG Select pickup replacement because the pickup was a weak point in the charvettes )

Usually easiest thing to make a weak bass better is switch the pups.

I have had so many jackson pickups and the thing that always bothered me was the inconsistency of what they put in what model even though they had stickers on the back to tell the assemblers where to use them it seemed they were wound half-a***d from the factory and nobody checked the ohms at the end before applying the stickers. Some of the passives got the weak ones and some of the preampped models got the hot ones. ( distortion city )
Generally I would swap around and then I was happy, or just bought aftermarkets.

Mine are actually much hotter than the one I had in the late 80's. Very bright and have to pump up the bass on my VT bass pedal. For my Harris p bass, have to really cut back. Big difference in sound between the two

I just picked up a white 1b and although it was relatively cheap with the b.o. considering how clean it is, the description was hilarious from the pawn shop selling it.
I figured if the pictures did not match the auction, I would just file a not-as-described claim so a win win either way ;)

THIS SALE CONTAINS A 1989 JAPANESE CHARVEL JACKSON BASS GUTIAR. IT'S USED BUT IN GOOD CONDITION. IT HAS PLYWOOD BODY, A MAPLE NECK, ROSEWOOD FINGER BOARD, AND JACKSON TUNERS.
