I know this is discussed in many many threads and there is a very funny thread on sticky;
Help! I need to get rid of that new string sound!
There are stories of very famous people running butter, mayones or greasy sauces to strings for that Jamerson tone or 6 month + old broken in strings o_O

I have an Ibanez SRF706, which I love.. however I'd love it more if I could silence it without losing all my volume settings.
It has a neck volume, bridge volume and a piezo volume, bass and treb pots for the pups and tone for the piezo. No master volume. No wiring diagram I can find, and zero...
Trying to get some answer about a few things here..
Crater said: Shouldn't be a problem. You can use a wiring diagram for a "Flying V" or "Explorer" guitar - they use a volume, volume, master tone with a 3-way pickup switch.
Careful, though. If you follow the wiring diagram for a Flying V...
First, hello all! I've been a reader on here for a while, but I can't remember if I've posted before. I hope this is a good place to ask this, but if it's not, a moderator is free to move it or ask me to move it. I'm honestly not much of a player any more, but I'm 47 and started when I was 16...
Like the title says... Has anyone here experienced all the tone and life getting sucked out of a good bass after exposure to sudden, drastic changes in temperature or humidity? I do not mean issues like sudden appearance of twists or bends, just loss of resonance and sustain.
Dramatic introductions aside, these are some nice amps. Please buy one.
Glockenklang Soul
$899 shipped. Pretty much mint condition. Some minor scratches on the top from racking. Does Glockenklang make the best bass amps ever? Yes is the answer to that.

Many here claim that live music is dying.
Maybe it is..maybe it isn't.
But I see where concert tickets are offered at reasonable prices to start with..and then moments later a scalper cleans out the site by buying them all up and then reselling them for an atrocious price.
Up here in Canada...
I know I’ve seen multiple kill switch questions on here, but I need it put into more layman’s terms... I can’t read a schematic so that’s void... pretty much I have a passive P/J bass with 2 volumes and a tone knob. (More specifically Geezer Butler Emgs with “solderless” technology) so my...
ive just been using my whammy on a saxophone - and it sounded awesome! But all of a sudden, it stopped effecting the sound. I had it plugged into a visual sound 1-spot, which I've used before... When the effect is bypassed, it passes signal but when I turn it on nothing comes through. I decided...
A recent thread about renting vs. owning a PA got me to thinking.
How may of you guys kill most of the day playing a bar gig? I fill in with a few bands that do this. They show up mid afternoon OR EARLIER to set up. They take a reeeeeeeeally long time to set up. They do a reeeeeeeally long...

I got my DIY box-mount of an ACG filter. Took a little bit more work than I figured (since the wiring diagram I had was for on-board mounting).
Anyway, I got it working, and seemingly working properly.
Except the LED in the circuit doesn't light.
The circuit works (power is going through the...

Hey all,
The pedal is actually going to be used for DJing so my needs are slightly different to that of a bass player, but you knows will know loads more about pedals and options out there than me so I hope someone can help!
What I need is a pedal that has an option do do 100% wet / dry kill...
New to flats and just got a new jazz bass. Love the LaBella Deep Talkin flats on my P I just put on a few days ago and I dont really like the feel or clanky sound at times with the rounds on the jazz. Seems like Chromes are popular with jazz basses. Will it still retain the same tones or will it...
As my tastes get a little more refined, I am finding that pedals that kill my top end bite are not my cup of tea. I know we're bassists and are mainly concerned about keeping the lows in our dirt, but for me, the highs should not be sacrificed. Nothing makes my playing feel better than having...
Just won a Charvel 1b on ebay for 221$ I loved this bass in the late 80's and regretted trading it in. Even same color as my old one. Maybe Claudia won't notice it.....
I've been working with some new musicians and I'm having a heck of a time trying to pin down this tone I'm trying to achieve. Basically, I want all the tone of my bass but WITHOUT the sound of the initial attack. To put it a little more clearly, I want the note that I play to sound like it...
OK, don't get excited. It's not a new species of giant lizard I want to shoot with a bazooka.
It's this crap!
It has taken over large parts of my yard this year. My centipede grass won't really green up for a few more weeks. But a full 40% of my yard is green with this stuff.
I put down Weed...
Hi bass player i'd like to put a kill switch with led(which goes on when sound is " killed")on my bass which as an active eq and i Guess i have to do it in this way :
take a on/on 3dpt switch connect the two signal terminals to the left raw then a +9v for led on the under right connector and the...
Can someone help me with Kooler Than Jesus?I am hhorrible at figuring out songs by ear. I love this bassline and there are no tabs on the internet for this.
I have a set of Roto flats on my jazz bass, they've been on there about two weeks. The G and D are still fairly bright for my taste, and I'm new to flats. How do I kill them to match the deadness of the other two? Cause E and A sound really dead.
