So I've been researching the Charvel Pro Mod San Dimas bass. Lobster's review clearly calls out how horrible the onboard pre-amp is, function wise as well as how noisy it is. However reading and watching other reviews (such as the renowned German magazine Gitarre & Bass, Bass The World) there is no mention of excessive noise or that the pre-amp is in any way 'bad'. I really like the features of the San Dimas like the fast and roasted maple neck, Di Marzio Pickups and that it's an active PJ setup for under 1k$. So I'm wondering if Lobster received a dud and if there are any owners here that could share their experience? Having to go through a shielding exercise to get the noise under control is a major turn-off for me.
