Cheap 5 string modern recommendations

I'm in the market for a modern 5 string in the $500-$700 range USED. I'm looking for something that does funk, soul, and urban well... I guess best described as MTD 535ish.

Any suggestions?

In your price range you could pick up the Schecter Stiletto Studio-5 (a very sweet bass) new.

I forgot about it somehow...check one out! I like the 55-02 much more, but it is more money

If you're looking for MTD sound, go MTD. A used Z5 would be a little bit above your price range, but well worth the extra cost.

Or you could grab a new Kingston Heir Active. Little bit different sound, though.

I used to have an SR 485...wasn't impressed. Is there a significant difference between these models? Do they make a BTB 505?

Go for the Kingston Heir active. It's definitely within that range and worth the price!

The G&L Tribute is awesome for the money. I also immediately thought of the Ibanez 505. If you can find a Schecter Stiletto to play try one out.

Ibanez is definately a great choice, I have a Warwick Vampyre 5 string
