The funny thing is probably 90% of everything we use is made in China, and is well enough made to get us through the day. Its too bad they have to rip off and poorly make these quality name brand instruments.

They should be ripping off the Fender and Gibson designs, then putting their own name on them just like the Japanese did in the 60’s and 70’s.

No no no no no! It means the colors are appropriate for any gender, but the instrument itself is not to be addressed as "he" or "she" but as "it" until "it" can determine which bathroom "it" identifies with.

Squire (Fender)
SUB (Sterling/Music Man)
Rock Bass (Warwick)
LTD (ESP)
and the list goes on....

The biggest difference is that with the companies that I listed, they are officially licensed products, so there is some oversight from the parent company/division as far as quality standards.

Am I crazy for not seeing a problem? Yes, it’s a copy of an existing model, but the list doesn’t claim it to be that model and the price doesn’t reflect what a person would pay for the real deal. It specifies in the ad that this isn’t a MusicMan, it’s a Human.

People intentionally buy replicas of stuff all the time, and build and sell kits and whatnot, and while it might prickle purists’ hairs that they might dare to put an authentic logo on an inauthentic instrument, players do that all the time too, as a cosmetic choice. Unless the seller is claiming it’s a real MusicMan, they’re not deceiving anyone except the kind of super-idiot who’d drop hundreds of dollars without reading what they’re buying.

And, having worked in retail, I can tell you with absolute certainty that those people are the real villains.

After buying more Gibsons than a lot of people do I opted for a copy. And it’s as good as any Epiphone or better. Billy Gibbons from ZZ TOP has most of his stage guitars built by his luthier and they put Gibson or Fender on the headstock ( easily to substantiate).

Hell Yeah!! Traded a Hot Rod Deluxe for that Chibson. I put in some SD Pearly Gates. Who Wee!! Some spicy meatball!! Talk to Billy he made me do it. And no I won’t be selling it. I love it.

There's alot of psychology involved with stuff like this. There was a guy named 'Slonk' selling what amounted to chinese SX parts (loaded necks / loaded bodies) on eBay. He made up this wild ass story about how they were parts from a defunct US company that Fender torpedoed in court. Anyways - there were TONS of reviews about how great these bass parts were! I bought some, thought they were crap, and returned them. BUT - there were many happy customers. Eventually it came to the surface what he was doing, but he made thou$ands playing on people's psychology and they were happy customers. So if people buy this fake MM and like it, what is the harm? EBMM isn't going out of business over it the same way Fender isn't going out of business over fake Jazz Basses & P-Basses. People who want a real stingray don't want this bass. People who want this bass can't afford a real one in most cases.

It's the name on the headstock that sells. They're not making counterfeit Squiers and Epiphones. And if Gibson did get China to make cheap, fake Gibsons, it wouldn't be illegal. Isn't odd that they can't ever shut down any of these factories? A factory making 1000's of fakes. It's not like they're making these things out of someone's garage.

Hard to shut down a factory that's running with the blessing of the Chinese government. Despite signing treaties protecting IP, they look the other way.

That's partially true, but you can buy an officially licensed version (SUB) cheaper than this knock off at any big box music store.
