While I have not encountered any basses, I did get the chance to check out a Chinese Les Paul Custom forgery and it was truly awful. The bridge and both pickups were routed way off center. The thing was barely playable.

Yeah, I also report these fakes whenever I can. The problem is they'll eventually enter the secondary market and someone might buy a used one thinking its the real thing.

Another problem is there are people willing to buy them who simply don't care…some of them board members.

Even though I hate these fakes, I'd love to see one in person and find out how it plays. They are getting pretty good at counterfeiting. Even the details and finish are getting better. They did it to my brother's products and every time he changes something to make his obvious that it is an original, they make the change to their fakes. Usually in as little as a day or 2.
