OK everybody, from the pros to the weekend warriors, let us know what you have for gigs this weekend, then check in again after the gig to let us know how it went!

I'll start.......just a really average weekend, I play tonite with my regular band, a small club gig not far from home, usually a good rowdy crowd. The band took time off during December as we all had other gigs, played on New Year's Eve, and now we're ready to get back to the steady work again for 2007, starting tonite. Tomorrow, I'll be filling in for one of the more popular local "party bands" at a new club. It will likely be a lot of classic rock, blues, southern rock, a bit of country......your normal bar band/party band menu!

hey, all!
tonight was the first of three gigs this weekend...the first of two with the same outfit.
i played with a woman i've started to get gigs with...blues singer/keys, a guitar, harp, drums and moi. we played a barbecue joint that gets some goood players, and we rocked the place.
same thing sat. night, then sunday afternoon, i'm the temporary bass chair for an under 21 blues jam. when we get the right young folks, i will be out of a gig.

My home computer's busted, so I'll post my "how it went" on Monday. I'm workin' this morning, so...

Last night, we got up and played a few songs at hubby's show. They asked us to. Their lead player (our old lead player) played with us, and it was awesome! He told me that our band is tighter with me than with the old bassist. :hyper: Hubby's band loved us, and had a great time with the 3 tunes we did. I got to play their bassist's '74 P...and I WANT ONE!!! :ninja:

Tonight, we have our "home" gig at the Lone Star. I love that crowd. Rowdy, in a fun way. We'll be doing blues, classic and Southern rock, and one country song. ("Why Don't We Get Drunk & Screw"...a classic! We're working up the Beer Run song, too, just for fun.) We'll do all our originals, of course.

Its been a good week for me, musically. I can get used to this! {{{knocks wood for luck...}}}

No gigs for me this weekend - which is pretty unusual. We average about 1 gig a week, and have 30+ booked so far this year, but January is a bit quiet (two gigs so far)

We were in the studio Thursday though (3 tracks in 4 hours! clips on www.pvrocks.co.uk). Next gig is Wednesday.

My band will be plowing a brand new furrow tonight! A joint called Sweetheart's in Chantilly VA. Our singer says she has lots of folks coming, party time! It's good going into a new club knowing that we've got a good show for them, our own brew of country new and old, with a dash of classic rock. Come on 9 pm!!

Had a gig last night & have another tonight... This band is side work. I find a few things frutstrating about the situation. Like throwing songs on a setlist I'd never seen before.

Somethings come off fine, others not so much. The stage was a bit small, the lights tripped the breakers during the 2nd song. But, friends & people from my other project came so that was nice.

And it went very well! Nice place, easy load-in w/no stairs, friendly staff, sassy waitress who brought me my FREE crab-stuffed salmon dinner, good selection of tap beers, I didn't have to tell the bartender what goes into a Mexican coffee (no, not ground-up Mexicans :p ).
The boss came right up and introduced himself to me before I even had my coat off. Nice guy, not a typical jerk type.
I got a decent sound and we played well. Turns out a friend of ours from another band lives right nearby, and he sat in and sang 2 songs.
I think the best part of the night was Melody, the cute adorable 5-year-old girl who insisted on chatting me up while I was setting up. She wanted to know all about what I was doing, and to tell me important stuff like how her daddy passes gas all the time at home. Her mom kept coming over to see if Melody was "bothering" me. They were there to eat and visit daddy, who bartends there. I assured mom that Melody's company was a pleasure, not a bother. They left before we started, but daddy was there all night, and was pretty blitzed by the end of the night. :rolleyes:
So overall a very good night, and good intro to a new place. I expect we'll be back! I'll be looking forward to it. :cool:

Well I just played my first gig of 07 at Warwick castle in the UK - a private party in the great hall. We were surrounded by suits of armour and swords/shields etc. It was like a film set. We had fireworks outside and all had a great time - and the sound was wicked which suprised me as it was a huge hall with a 60' ceiling and completely made of stone with a marble checkered floor. Wish I had brought a lute with me:D
