The Thursday gig went well, although there were very few people we knew that came out - Thanks Rich, Ed, JoAnn, Donna, Gary and the Haddonfield crew -

I swear that this bar is where the off duty exotic dancers and escorts go to party. What a crowd of tarnished lovelies.

I'm subbing tonight with the band I quit 3 months ago. They want me back, and tonight they will find out that the new band I joined has gone belly up. So the pressure will be on. See my thread about this in Misc.
The gig is at the Lions Club in Remington VA.

Yup, it was. Everyone, including the band's ladies, was on me to rejoin. Even the guy who's been subbing on bass, who was playing guitar last night, advised me to come back. That would put him out of the gig! All very flattering.
The gig went well and I had a great time. And best of all, I didn't sprain my knee like I did a year ago at this place. :hyper:

Had a rehearsal for a band (smooth jazz+RandB) this afternoon. Great players, rehearswed in the drummers studio ( which is decorated like the Batcave). I knew the gig would be on a Wednesday. After rehearsal today, I found out its this Wednesday.

Good gigs this past weekend. Saturday night, our singer's daughter got proposed to from the stage. We let her boyfriend take the mic and he got down on a knee in front of everyone and asked. It was pretty cool. Same night, our singer's brother got up and sang a song with him... they used to be in a band together but have not spoken to each other for 6 years or something but his brother has been coming to our last few shows and it looks like they're reconciling.

Then we killed it at a benefit show Sunday afternoon with many area musicians in attendance. Will probably get at least 2-3 follow-up gigs out of it.

Great weekend, but tiring. Glad I have today off work.

Gig went great. Even with rain/snow coming down, the place was packed. Band sounded good( our first "gig" as such) and I had some guests from my past show up. So did Lenny White (RTF).

Going to be a crazy ass bass playing weekend end for yours truly.

First off, I think I've finally made the big time and am sitting in with an old old friend of mine for a set or 2 tonight in the bar at the local Applebees!! :bassist: It should be a fun acoustic/bass duo thing.

Then this Friday and Saturday, I'm off to Gun Lake (Big inland lake south of town) to play a bar gig. Saturday night is Winterfest. A bunch of crazy ****ers will be jumping into the aforementioned lake and hopefully they all make it back out. I myself will not be participating because I like my junk right where it is! The festivities continue into the night with a Bikini contest right up on the same stage that I'll be on!! I understand that last year the bikini contest really didn't have a lot of judging based on the bikinis the girls were wearing if you know what I mean :cool:.

So after a weekend of debauchery, and about a 45 minute drive home (I expect I'll pull into my driveway about 4:00am or so) I have to be to church by 7:00am to play in the praise band!!! :hiding: Sunday is going to be a very long day..........

Clubdate this weekend. No big band:cancelled because of.....the Academy Awards? Yep. Big band gig may be over for a while anyways. After being promised all Sundays in March, now they're saying no and the person who made that decision is out of the country on vacation. Convenient.

SinneR has a way cool gig tonite, imagine this..... a Judas Priest tribute playing at a full on Corprate Function !?!?! It's a surprise 50th B-day for the CEO of DC Comics. He's a hardcore Priest junky, and his staff got together and hired us. It's a surprise party @ a club called Don Hill's, in Greenwhich Village, NYC. All we have to do is bring our instruments and clothes etc, all production is being provided. What's not to like ? This should be fun.

Another weekend of Dive Bar Madness with Forever Vinyl... Tonight (Friday) is at Route 66 Roadhouse and Tavern in Duarte, tomorrow night is The Godmother's Saloon in San Pedro. A local singles web site has been pumping our shows on their own - we don't even know who's doing it but it's bring lots of extra people to our shows - and the girlies love to dance! Woot!

Well, last night was "one of those nights". One of our regular club gigs, kind of a "hot and cold" place, where we either seem to pack the place, or get absolutely no crowd at all.........and you never really seem to know which way it will go.

Last night, we had a good crowd early, and as we worked our way through the first set (we do a long first one, over an hour, often close to 1 1/2 hours), the place continued to fill up, mostly with lots of drunked up females, most of whom where working hard on becoming extremely drunked up females.

Side note: for some reason, when we were setting up, the lead guitar player decided to set up his rack of guitars behind him on the drum riser, instead of on the front line between his monitor and mine, as it would normally be. This turned out to be downright amazing insight, probably saving a collective $6-8 thousand dollars worth of instruments on that rack from harm..........

Fast forward..........2nd song of the 2nd set......we start into the vamp for the tune, and an highly intoxicated blond haired lass squeals, "I love that tune", and lunges for the guitarists mic, loses her balance, and discovers quickly that a mic stand is really no substitute for a cane, a crutch, a walker, or whatever the hell she thought may keep her drunk @$$ from falling down right into us, tipping the mic stand, kicking his pedalboard, dumping his tray of capos, slides, etc off the stand, and generally pissing him off like I've rarely ever seen him. (And I've know him for close to 30 years.)

Well, that set the stage for the rest of the evening.......we continued the song, got things sorted out......some of our "regulars" decided to dance right in front of the band to try and protect us from the stumbling, bumbling bunch of bimbos that was accumulating on the dance floor. (Hey, at least the scenery was good!:smug:)

Somewhere near the end of that same set, we heard the unmistakeable sound of a beer bottle breaking (it cuts over the PA like nothing else can, you know you've heard it before:rolleyes:), and the same stage-stumbling female was attacking another alcohol-laden babe at the back of the room, all the while screaming at the bartender about her missing purse (that was laying right in front of the stage).

Well, you know what's coming next.........a couple of blue suits and badges showed up almost immediately, and the crowd thinned out somewhat for the final set, but the folks that stayed still partied like animals, and we were kinda glad to put this one in the history books. :D
