Checking in before I head out the door,playing at Mac's in MT.Iron tonight and tomorrow.The band I am playing with packs them in pretty tight every place they go so it should be a good time.

We'll be going on in about an hour for a birthday do at our local.

The birthday boy is our regular driver, so we'll hopefully put on a good show for his 30th.

Leader for the big band calls this afternoon: the club owner thinks no one will be out Sunday ("cause of the Superbowl) so we're cancelled for Sunday. Nice notice. Then he says the TV studio called: they didn't realize that there were so many in the band and their studio can't accomodate us, so the TV shooting is postponed for now. I swear, cheap ( and free) gigs suck.

It turned out better than I'd thought. It was a private party for a birthday, so it was a younger crowd, not the usual couples-over-50 drink-early-go-home-early Moose crowd. We are a new-school country band, and we went over pretty well in spite of a few requests for Haggard, Jones and Williams Sr. from the old-school guys.

One personal first, I sang Mustang Sally! It's not on our list, but we had a request. We started playing, and the singer couldn't find his words. So while he was on his knees searching through his sheets, the drummer looked at me and said "Words!" I started singing, thinking that the singer would find his sheet and take over.
Wrong! I wound up doing the whole thing. It turns out that even after playing it 1000 times, I don't know all the words, ha ha! But lots of folks danced, and we made the requester happy, so no harm done.

Overall it was a decent night. We had a drunk heckle us while we were trying to load the trailer, but after he stepped into the trailer, the drummer's girlfriend went off on him, loudly suggesting that he shut his f'n mouth and get the f away from us, and he retreated in short order. She's normally mild-mannered, but I gained a new respect for her last night! :p

We did a local club gig on Saturday night, but it was lots of Steeler fun all night.....we're just about an hour away from Pittsburgh, almost all Steeler fans around here, the band all wore the Steeler jerseys, etc, and so did everyone in the club. Kind of a Super Bowl pre-game party kind of feel....:cool:

The shows at Nardi's went well with a sub drummer (thanks Alex!) and we were pleasantly surprised that another band played after our 'Apres ski' show on Saturday. Here's a shout out to Tony Trahan and the Blue Krewe, http://www.bluekrewe.com/ who served up a healthy portion of hot Louisiana cajun style blues/funk for all. Great band and real nice guys, I highly recommend checking them out if you get a chance. Lots of fun. They play all over the Denver area, so check their schedule and see what I'm talking about, great party band.

This week, Friday 2/6 Taos Inn, Taos NM, 6:30, Saturday 2/7 Lizard Lounge at the Angel Fire Resort, Angel Fire NM, 7 pm.

Biggest crowd ever for my band Saturday night. 600 capacity room, we were over that by at least 100 (good thing the fire marshall didn't show up), packed literally wall-to-wall. Lots of good looking women and the dance floor was full on almost every song. By the time we finished our first set you could not find a chair anywhere in the place. We had three birthday parties going there (that we knew about, anyway) so the place was over half full before we even played a note.

It has been a butt-cold winter up here, but that day it had been over 50 degrees with sunshine so people were out and ready to PAR-TEE.
