Yeah, I see an MT-2 which I've used on bass before and didn't like the sound at all. :\ Maybe he has his modded by Keeley which would make it boutique in a way.

Wow. Interesting. What I'd really like to see is footage of him leaping through the air to stomp on the pedals on the top shelf . . . . might even require a backflip.
You can get a lot of nice stuff out of an inexpensive pedal if you work with it a while. Everything's got something to offer if you look for it, some sounds you'll never get out of a pricier box.
Craig Anderton, the electronics guru, is big on reaching into your gear to get the potential out of it, by the way. This kid might be a prime example of that.
In his defense though, the dude posted that exact photo on his myspacepage, so he obviously doesn't mind the photo going around the net!

Not exactly. I thought it was pretty cool. As usual everything gets blown out of proportion if it gets out of hand. He likes to collect effect pedals, so what. I'm jealous. I agree with toasted 100%
A pedal array is like a spice cabinet. Too many pedals used at once will produce a dismal result.
I love this stuff, the 'speak-ese' loaded with attitude, designed to diminish the status of the reader it's aimed at: "Uhh...you might notice..." (as in, "if you were observant enough, dummy"). However long Toasted has been skulking around here has little to do with anyone else's perception. If I understand your reply, anyway.
I just think the poster of the thread is a big boy, and can deal with a little ribbing, even some rude commentary (we should all be, unfortunately, used to that by now, right?)- at least I'm willing to go with that idea. He's had some of us louts take to his defense too! So did I- even if I did say he's making sonic hash.

Right ok here's my 2c or whatever.
Personally the tone loss on that board won't be that terrible, the volume won't be halved by the time it gets to the end, true the tone won't resemble what is coming out of his guitar but clearly with that many effects he doesn't intend it to be he won't be using them sparely like most of us do with bass and a bit of chorus here and there.
Granted I think its a bit OTT but he does appear to be a collector/bedroom player and never makes out to be anything more I myself collect pedals and have often had over 40 and would love them all hooked up together and have enough patch leads to do so which is what this setup affords him.
As for his amps who knows maybe he champions cheap gear, I've stopped using some of my more boutique amps and cabs for some cheapies and my tone has never been better, also recently stopped using a $4000 custom bass for a $400 Thunderbird clone and again I sound pretty damn good (IMHO)
There are some big name players that use stupidly long chains like this such as John Frusciante who has lots and lots of moogs which are highly regarded as having the worst bypass every but his tone is stellar and Omar from The Mars Volta again huge boards lots of bad bypass effects but killer tone.
and finally yes I do find JMJ's pedal choices a little odd and have tried pretty much everything he has on that board and found a better pedal everytime but go listen to that Ima Robot CD and wow oh wow his effect use is amazing (Not saying that you didn't know that already because JMJ is the man) but clearly in his case it's the man and not the effects or I'm just crap with what he uses
I don't think a single one of us would turn down a jam sess where you could have access to all those pedals

I did realize it. I meant to refer to the OP as the guy who originally posted the thread wherever it originally appeared. The post was subsequently brought to TB and re-posted (I mean posted), and that's what you were referring to as "Not cool", right?
I'm no longer talking about the post as belonging to that not-cool guy, but to the owner of the pedals, since he's the subject of all this.

so if this set-up belonged to justin chancellor/flea/newsted/whoever people freak out on around here, would people stand by their goodnatured ribbing?
