Chi-love Club

Just got my new Lakland yesterday (on the left). Chisonic single coils are my fave Lakland pickup!

Nice.
The green Glaub in the middle was my old bass.
One I should have never sold.
But at the time I had two USA Glaub's . And keep my Trans White / Gold Anodized pickguard.

Gus, not sure about the J-retro as I've never tried one.

On the other hand, the P-retro, yes it skewes modern, and its a killer pre.

the pre's I have experience with are Audere (so-so, IMO) and Aguilar (OBP3, very nice when paired with Nordstrand fat stacks in my Lull), the LH-3 (compares well, IMO to the OBP3), and the Sadowsky outboard and onboard (also divine).

Good to see you here, I still love the green Glaub. That CS is in the perfect spot for tone.

That makes two I have now that previous owners miss! I missed a Seafoam JO5 badly for years until I got the gold 55 Custom.

Started this project,A decade knockoff in 32" scale with a warmoth neck.I wanted a simple single p.u. decade w/ a HB chi ! I have a single coil chi in the bullpen getting warmed up in case I want to make a switch.I also picked up a skyline 44-64 out of the classifieds today.I'll get usa model some day.

The "big" chi housing is pretty unique size. a little smaller than MM pickups, obviously, about twice as wide as single coil. I can measure my 44-07 later today (dual humbucker chis) for you to get a sense of the route sizes.

This is the size I used for the decade project above
BODY ROUT: 4-1/4" WIDE X 1-1/8"
PICKGUAURD HOLE SIZE: 4-1/16" WIDE X 1-15/16"
ACTUAL P.U SIZE: 4" WIDE X 1-7/8"
This is by no means the actual factory specs. just what I used. The rout has some "wiggle room"Maybe 1/4" not oversized by any means. It'll be covered by the puckguard so not a big deal.
