and you can't leave out Carol Kaye, arguably one of the best early bass guitarists regardless of gender, and apparently the inventor of the horn-between-the-breasts conundrum:

I'm glad you posted that! Carol Kaye is awesome, and on my very short list of people I truly admire and respect.

you seem to have commitment, talent and good looks, in that order. Also a sense of humor. Music is a tough business, so you'll need all that and more if you intend to make it your profession.

Aww thank you so so so much. I'm gonna make it, I can feel it. I work in a studio, I'm getting my audio engineering degree, I was just studying my book actually. I love it. I love the studio. I love music. I can't help myself.

I'm just being Samantha. Just a girl from KS with a bit of talent and a dream. I work hard to get what I have, and I'm not gonna let anything stop me. The good looks are just a bonus. And I've always been funny, idk...just have.

Like I said...I'm gonna be something

You guys are really amazing on here. This place is just, my sanctuary. A place where I can feel really belonging. You guys get bass...and music

Add real knowledge about music (keep reading even if you don't use it now), and that's a nice short summary.

It's what 3 years of jazz, a year of music theory, my courses in my degree, and 8 years of orchestra teaches

Knew how to sight read music almost flawlessly (depending, of course) before I read tabs...being classically trained makes a lot of things really easy

so why are you playing with that death metal band? :bassist::hiding::confused:

Seriously ... I know they're your homies but you're like 10 levels above them. Come to Brooklyn and join an indie band, and you'll be, well maybe not a star, but not a KC metal bassist. NTTAWTT.

Legal disclaimer: past results are no guarantee of future performance.

I enjoy the intensity. I know it doesn't use my skills to the best but it's fun. If I could come to Brooklyn...me and Erica. I totally would do it. We're in school now though.

Since day one I've just...idk...blown they're minds? I let the guitarist lead...but I know what makes them sound better and I have to make sure theyre in tune and all this junk. I tell them about the harmonics and when things do not sound correct or harmonically sound. They'll play something then I just flip the switch and play some crazy **** that slides in perfect and makes them sound wicked sweet and gives the drummer an epic groove. Idk it's what I do. I just play...I feel bad cause Its easy for me.

So I guess I'm in a metal band because it's with somewhat talented, but equally passionate people playing good music with raw emotions that I can add my little spark to, change things up a bit.

Like I said, keep at it, even if you don't think you'll use it. Being good at reading is something most bass players can't put on their resume'. Reading gives you a huge edge. Talent, charisma, youth, and good looks don't hurt you either;) But honestly, youth and looks fade, but if you are the "real deal"(and I think you are),you'll be able to play for a living when you are much older just because you really understand music.

Cool. I don't mean to over-suggest, or diss metal which I don't know much about. Rock on and pm me if you ever want to head in the general direction of Brooklyn or the Woodstock area.
