I chose the option to change string length. It would be very cool to be able to have a short-scale and full-scale bass in one package. Each size bass has its advantages.

That would be my "plan B". Plan A would be a switch that generates high paying gigs, with my option of which musical style to play for the evening. The money would be great, but having money plus musical variety is my fantasy feature.

Wouldn't a wizard that hip be living somewhere nicer than a cave?

I'd like integrated amplification too. No need to plug anymore, just sound waves coming magically out of the instrument.

I havent read the whole thread, if anyone has already posted this, feel free to flame, or whatever it is you feel is necessary, but fernandes makes a bass with a built in 10 watt speaker.

Talent knob/switch would be pretty cool too, but would any of you ever have that turned off?

I'd go for the magical fretted/fretless switch with a fretboard wood ans finish option: 5 positions guitar-style switch with
- fretted mapple
- fretted rosewood
- fretless ebony
- fretless rosewood epoxy-coated
- fretless metal delta-type à la Vigier

And I'll take two of them, one with ash body and one with alder ...

From that list I'd take fretted/fretless anyday. Close second choice would be string number, ability to switch from 4 to 6 would sure be great.

One feature I'd like to see is transformation from electric to doublebass!

I voted "fretted/fretless". So long as the nut changes height at the same time, and the bass maintains tuning when tension increases/decreases.

tuning, definitely. I play a lot of stuff in standard and drop D, but I also like playing stuff 1 or 2 steps down which would be a pain if I didn't have my bass that I keep tuned to that
