Patiently Waiting For The Next British Invasion
Just horrible news and what's going to really rip this wound open is when they have some fake tribute at the next Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee ceremony.
Very sad. A true innovator and by all accounts a good man. Inspirational player.
Another sad day. It's a great loss. He will be missed.
His music and tone were among the handful of greatest worldly pleasures I have ever experienced. Soul-deep pleasure - the chills up the spine kind, like few musicians could affect me. He will be greatly missed. He was the heart and soul of Yes, and I think it's safe to say, that despite all the line-up changes over the years, Yes finally rests with Mr. Squire Beyond the Heart of the Sunrise! RIP!
On a happier note, I literally just replaced my entire Yes catalog with newer remastered versions and, when possible, with Steve Wilson's 5.1 surround sound versions. I have been treating myself to a 5.1 album once a week as a special treat, and only when the house is empty. Let me tell you, you haven't heard Yes until you've heard the 5.1 mixes! Wilson did a FANTASTIC job! I thought after a billion listenings I had heard all the nuances of these songs, but the space and separation of 5.1 allows me to hear things I have never heard before. I have since purchased all of Wilson's 5.1's (except XTC and Tears for Fears). I'm sure Mr. Squire must have been ecstatic to hear his music in this manner.

When I first heard Yes it was a revelation, something entirely different, I still have that

He did more than anyone else to inspire me as a bass player and I owe all the pleasure that I've had playing for the last 45 years in no small part to him.

Man ... I loved Chris' bass playing ... great iconic musician for the 20th and 21st centuries.

Chris Squire was such a powerful influence on so many. There are great bassists I tried to imitate and there are those I just loved to listen to in awe because imitation was futile. Chris was one of the few in the later category. May he rest in peace.
RIP to another bass giant. This guy, along with players like Entwistle, brought the bass to the forefront of the rock band. Spinning Close To The Edge as I type this with a heavy heart, but here is one that I think is most appropriate.
