Chrome's/Precision Flats tension question

I don't find they change tension wise at all.

Yeah, I’m thinking it must just be that when they start to deaden into their sound they seem a little more loose, the sound less crisp and tight. Somehow I think this affects how I perceive the playability of the string. I seem to remember the same happening to rounds back when I actually played rounds.

I don’t know, I’ve tried too many flats in the past few years on all my basses, I think I’m starting to go nuts...

I was thinking about this tonight. Do flats get more loose, less stiff, more malleable after a few months of playing?

I agree with Jimmy. Tension won't change, I think they feel different with age. I generally don't care for chromes but if I play a bass that has worn them for quite some time I like them. Then again I like tort so my opinion is questionable to begin with.

Tension would only change if somehow they lost mass which doesn't sound likely.

I went from using Chromes (med-flats) to the same gauge La Bella and the La
Bella’s are way less stiff. They seemed a little floppy at first but I was so used to the Chromes and using a heavier attack with those. Adjusted my style and the La Bella’s are awesome!!

What's also nice about the Precision Flats is they come in a factory "balanced-tension" set, 45-60-80-105, as well.

Precision Flatwound CM3050:

G 045 - 41.5 lbs.
D 060 - 46.5
A 080 - 44.9
E 105 - 41.2 (Total 174.1 lbs.)

I just ordered a set of these, my first GHS flats. I've used Chromes on a lot of basses over the years usually the 45-100 set which I liked better than their balanced set but figured I'd try GHS's balance set since I'll be new to these strings.
