Chuck Rainey - Josie

He seemed to have some percussive techniques in his bag of tricks. Kid Charlemagne has some. If not slapping he did some accents and octave things I have heard in isolation that are just out of the box. He's such a creative player.

Sounds like he's thumping and plucking in the last measure of the chorus, when Fagan sings "...With her eyes on fire" but to me the rest of it sounds like that's just the way he plays fingerstyle.
Yep, he's doing some octave pops in there, to my ear, and maybe pops a string here and there throughout, but what the's doing in there I can do plucking with finger and thumb, don't need to slap with the thumb. I think there might be a fine line there but I'm not a slapper so if that required a slap I couldn't do it.
