OK i bought one from the peeps at The Bass People in Oz. mine's serial no 63. :hyper:

this pedal is ultra tweakable, but has an extremely high learning curve to master. for this pedal to operate at maximum capacity, it'll be beneficial for you to learn the basics of modular synthesis.

my main hindrances are really 1) getting started, 2) getting the hang of the interface, and 3) getting the sound i want. the instruction manual is pretty clear cut but the knobs (or the lack of it) can take some time getting used to.

i've managed to create a saw tooth fuzz tone to emulate the reese bass, and also duplicated some sounds from my ehx bms using the "octofuzz" as a template. but filter-wise, i'm having trouble trying to do a low-high and a high-low freq sweep. does anyone know how to do this??

Also, thinking up of some sounds from scratch can be quite daunting. what i'm currently doing is to use reason's subtractor synth to get an approximation of what i need to do to get a certain type of sound, and then roughly put the settings on the OS. as suggested, i think the good guys at chunk shd really write a program for us to edit patches on a computer and then save the patches into the unit.

but overall, i think its a winner here. it leans towards the line6ish tonecore pedals rather than the one knob kind. definitely not for guys who just want to stomp on pedals.

I've been in correspondence with Richard at Chunk, though, and my freezing issues have been resolved with a firmware update. I encourage anybody with an OS to register it, even if you got it used!

It also seems that the effect exchange will be active on the Chunk website real soon! I'll be posting patches there in the future, with soundclips here.

There is another very cool development that I won't mention, but I will say that I am glad I didn't sell mine! :D

from Europe I think you have to go through Godlyke now. I was able to purchase it directly from .au (Bass People), but they stopped taking orders from outside .au soon after mine cause Godlyke wasn't happy about it :)

Nice work. I know people want to compare the Deep Impact or Bass Micro Synth to the OS, but they really are different beasts in my opinion. I think the first two are much better for 80's style synth sounds but the OS is just so tweakable and really works well for modern funk/hip-hop (which is what I've used it for primarily) or especially electronic/d'n'b sounds.

I especially dug the Octafuzz LPF and the arp'ed widdly. With that one I'd really think about adding a fuzz tone to it. I think that would be cool.

No more crashes. That was a relief. I still haven't put the time into my Squeezer that it deserves.

But when I think about it, my foot begins to make a rocking motion...

Very nice work. Gonna have to download those files when I get home. Wish I had more time to play with the pedal, but I'm doing 4 bands right now and barely have enough time to get songs learned much less play around with my new toy. I need to free up some time.
