Yes, both of those things are in the works. I emailed Richard Cartwright a few months before the OS came out regarding the software patch editor because a number of TBers were talking about the possibility. Even back then he said it was in the plans.

Expression control is also in the works, using the aux input.

How close either of them is to coming to fruition I couldn't tell you.

But one cool thing about the OS is that obviously the improvements come via firmware updates. I like that simply because it's frustrating to buy a pedal only to have a new version come out and feel like you should have waited.

+1 This pedal has a lot of potential and its for sure that Richard has some aces under his sleeve, there's no way I'm going to sell this pedal :bassist:

What is the software patch editor? Is it something with which we can edit effects on our computer? That is what I would love to see. A way to write and edit effects on the computer and maybe generate the tone on the computer, then copy them over to the OS for tweaking. Would be a much easier way to create and edit.

Has anyone had any success getting a more "moogish" type sound out of the OS. I've heard lots of good, heavy fuzz tones but not any Stevie Wonderish type key bass sounds. That's what I've been mainly working on and sometimes I get close but then I change one parameter and its gone forever.

I know this thing won't ever be a true moog bass and I'm still getting the hang of this pedal. Just curious if anyone's had any luck with these type sounds.

I've heard the EHX microsynth get some of these tones and I'm wondering if that was the direction I should've gone, but I hate the fact that the microsynth isn't programmable.

One limitation of the OS as compared to the BMS is that while the BMS has independent sliders for the dry sound, octave up and octave down, the OS only allows you to blend in one octave up/down pitch. This means it isn't possible to get a truly "stacked" tone out of the OS the same way you can with a BMS.

I think the BMS is the go-to pedal for the sound you're talking about, but the OS CAN make more subtle synth sounds than the ones it is famous for.

I'm at work so I can't try this, but does anyone think that maybe putting my Boss OC2 in front of the OS and using it for the octave while using the OS's fuzz will get a good synth sound. I like the OC2's octave sound better anyway. Guess I got a good project for tonight.

Didn't you recently sell a BMS?

I'm wondering if you ever ran a waveform like a sawtooth into the BMS and then thickened it up using the other BMS voices and filter?

i have still not heard any any samples that did anything for me. all the wacky LFO and all that stuff is great, and id surely use it, but i wanna hear the synth sounds..

and i know it can also do octave up stuff, can anyone post some clips of 2 octave up wanking? weather it be synthy or not im just curious to see what it can do, ive been considering getting a whammy pedal to do the whole octave up guitar range thing, but if this can do it i might be interested..

sure, but that's not the point of the squeezer - the point of the squeezer is to be self-contained.

i may eventually re-buy a BMS, but not soon. I have an actuall synthesizer and my actual bass playing has been going in a slightly more conventional direction.
