CL ad of the day

Honestly, I don't see a problem with it. Guy is writing from his heart and hopes to share his creative outlet.

He covered his goal (lyricist), what he wants (musicians), his style and influences (everything), and gave an example of his work (the poem?). The exact same thing I'd expect from a musician looking for work (goal, ways to reach the goal, personal experiences and examples of work).

Would I answer the ad? No. It's not that he writes poorly or is too verbose, it's just not my personal choice in lyrical themes. Even if I did, I'm certain I'd have to reign back some of his ideas, but he seems pretty open about communicating ideas.

It does remind me listening to some guy at a Open Mic night playing acoustic guitar. It was a 5-minute long Blues song (sort of) and him rambling on about whatever. But just like most things, I really wasn't paying attention to the actual lyrics. It could've been about his life, his opinions on the world, or good advice about making a résumé.

By the way, lyrics and poems aren't the greatest examples of spelling and grammar. Pronunciation isn't a strong point in singing some lyrics either. "Blinded by the light, wrapped up like a" ... what?!

At least he isn't some Haiku master wanting to make rap-songs out of them. I might try that though.

People tend to read a lot into what people write and how they write it.
It's kind of silly because tone doesn't come across at all over the internet.

For all I can tell this guy might be a MENSA caliber genius. The works of
extremely gifted people are often easily confused with the works of idiots.

All I can tell from his writing is:

1. He is unhappy and unfulfilled at this stage of his life. (many of us are)
2. He loves writing and especially poetry. (His given poem was not great, but not horrible)
3. He is seriously in need of an editor.
4. He has enough motivation and courage to at least reach out and attempt to take action.

Yeah, he might be a sad weirdo. You never know given it's CL and all and there's
no shortage of folks like that. He might be a diamond in the rough. Or he might
just be an average guy without much experience in writing CL ads.

If he was local, I'd be willing to contact him and find out more about the guy
before I passed any judgment. I don't need a lyricist, but networking never hurts.
