Neo has dominated the high end of pro-sound for ten years. The musical instrument industry is a late arrival.
No, there is no global warming. Also, when you consider that all the major models predicting this stuff leave out the single most important factor-the sun- you have dismiss it as junk science.

The wise man dismisses nothing out of hand, considering all possibilities. The main opponents to the science of Global Warming are those who's pockets will be less full when steps to reverse it are enacted. The smart money doesn't wait until forced by law to do business in a socially responsible manner.

When the subject at hand is directly affected it's pertinent. Whether you believe in global warming or not efforts to control it will result in increased costs for fossil fuel and everything that uses it. That raises the price on everything that's mined, manufactured and shipped. Manufacturers who plan on still being in business a decade or two down the road are getting their ducks in a row today; the wise ones did so yesterday.

No disagreement about social responsibility, Bill, it's how I make a living. But while I agree that costs for sustainability will surely show up in products of the future, I'm not sure it's clear that modern, lightweight bass gear is any more eco-friendly than vintage gear. If it is, then that's very relevant to the "wave of the future". Maybe that's another thread.

one way is less fuel to transport lighter and smaller pa systems. they have to get there somewhere...they don't move by osmosis.

IMO, yes:) Compare it to a lower powered amp of any size and weight, and it will have more headroom and girth. Compare it to a TecAmp PUma1000 or Markbass SD1200... not so much.

Doesn't mean its not a great amp, but it surely doesn't sound 'better' because it happens to weigh a ton.

IMO and IME on that one!

The pro touring sound guys smelled that coffee ten years ago. They dumped their cluster arrays for line arrays at $250k and up mainly because they reduced pack space and power requirements by 2/3. They sound better too, but again, it's the money that does the talking.

Laptops are so last century. It will be iPods for the average player.

FOH will already have the computers. As they do now. Just hand them the thumb driver with the software, presets, and license, and you're up and going. The whole rig on a thumb drive.

Technology advances and we are fortunate to be able to choose between more options. I don't take sides. I just go with what works. Here's where I am at for the moment.

With lots of spares

When was "the day"? Look at the old Beatles documentaries when they were the biggest thing to hit the US shores and there they are playing stadiums and not being heard over the screaming. Somewhere between that day and the day when FOH was all SS and what everyone heard was a very short day.
