The passive tone knob has been standard for quite some time now, as far as I know.
Mine has it, and it's ~ 1 year, 4 months old or so.

So there was a time that they weren't standard?

It's not just any parts bass, this one was the prototype, in Jimmy's own words. It wasn't for sale, but I convinced him to sell it to me. Unless this is some kind of sales pitch he used to bamboozle me with.

Yes ... the passive tone knob didn't debut until the second or third year of production ... late 2005 or maybe NAMM 2006.

Is that the bass from his 1600 broadway shop or did you get it from the 9th ave shop?

It was the shop that was down the hall from Roger Sadowsky. Is that the Broadway shop? I was at Sadowsky's shop before stopping at Jimmy's. I tried all the 4 string Sadowskys, but none of them grabbed me the way this one did.

Fretless LG5, ebony board, satined neck, white nitro but not shot by Jimmy's regular guy (this according to Jimmy) so it looks and feels a little different. It it currently "wearing" a vintage bent plate bridge, but I will also include the hipshot in the pic. Posting it here first for members of the "famiglia", and I'll put it into general circulation in a couple of days.

For sale only, unless someone has an RA4 that they want to part with. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.

As you can see, she's fully relic'd. Thing is, I have no idea where any of these dings came from. I actually bought it in pretty close to this condition around 10 years ago.

I had one of the first Passive controls. Perhaps the second or third bass to get it. I sent my 1st LG5 LPB back to NY for a photo shoot for his catalog and had him install it while it was there.
I asked for a while to get that as standard.. now it is. My 1st LG5 came with no Passive control and there are photos somewhere in one of these threads of the before and after renditions of that bass.. It was the testbed for the 5 string pups and bridges too. And Jimmy and i are working on trying to get that bass back right now.. Thats another one i should not have sold .

Sometimes I actually play a few notes on the "thumbrest".

Do you still have the sister to my RA5?

Man...I LOVE my RA5. We recorded a gig a few months ago
and the RA5 sounded awesome.

Hey Dan,

Nope - the RA5 has gone to a friend of mine up here in Canadia (thanks Chef . Co-incidentally his name is Dan as well. For the moment I am really enjoying my new LG4, though I suppose it's really only a matter of time before it has an RA4 as a playmate.
