Club Alleva Coppolo (Part 11!)

+1 Both sound good but different... one sounds like a J, one sounds like a Fodera:smug: I like the punchy J grind better than the big, fat, warm soapbar type tone of the Fodera, which is why I no longer own a Fodera and now own J basses:D Nice though!

I thought the LG spoke much more clearly in the upper register (which is my own personal experience having played a similar Fodera for many years). The Fodera is definitely fatter and bigger down low, which can be a cool thing, but also can result in you losing that 'hear the windings on the E string' ability in a mix. IMO and IME!

+1 based solely on the clip, but (for Bass7755)...the Fodera was recorded louder (single/double coil mode?, not to mention tone control settings) and, I would imagine, with different strings, so hardly a true A/B there.

I will, however, defer to Kens hands on experience.
:)

Thanks to fellow talkbasses turnuptheBASS (will) I am now the proud owner of an LG5! I think I pestered him until he decided to sell it to me :)

Will got the bass from Jimmy in 2008 and by the time his order was complete no longer played much music. The bass has sat unplayed since then, still has the plastic on the pickguard, control cavity and tuners!

I just got the bass this morning and I can tell that it is going to be perfect! As close as you can get to a new bass without the 9 month wait.

I'll post my pictures later but here is a quick shot that Will sent me.

Do you have some more pics also showing the matching headstock?

I guess you are looking towards a great (ACLG5) weekend!!

Yep, we have a CD release tour starting tuesday so I am looking forward to that!

Here is another pic of the body.

pictures are a bit washed out.... I'm no good at photography.

One cool thing is that Jimmy put a white control cavity cover on the back... never seen that before.

I
My bent plate doesn't move sideways like Coelho mentioned, but it's a pain having to remember exactly where the strings sat or reset the string spacing since there isn't a single string slot on the saddles

I took a fine Sharpie permanent marker and put a black line on the "correct" slot on the saddle on my KPB-5. I probably won't change the strings soon as I am using TI flats on it but I don't want to have to fiddle with the string spacing when I do.

Yeah Jonno... I asked Jimmy to put the bent plate on... But I changed my mind

I love the sound and feel of the Badass on my LM5

The BAV is a perfect choice for an LM5, but the bent plate bridge did a lot for the sound of my LG5 fretless. I think it would add a lot of character to your RA5. I wouldn't hesitate to go BAV if your RA was fretted, but the bent plate will warm up your fretless considerably.

I went to the shop yesterday and ended up switching pickguards on my new kpb4 beacuse the white was cracked and causeing the jack to make some noises..so.... we put on the annodized pg and now have the first AC with annodized pg... I still prefer the white, but its pretty cool still... ill leave it for a while this way, and maybe ill get used to it...

That. is. gorgeous!!! Enjoy it! Mondo funk will exude from that bass.

I love that color combo with the gold guard!

Maybe ask Jimmy if he will route out the access hole for the truss rod.

The cool think about the AC KBP4's is that you can use fender replacement pickguards and they fit perfect, except for the route for the truss rod access.
