Ok Playa's, I JUST ORDERED MY LG5! Jimmy's a cool cat. I went with CAOJ/Match Headstock and tort PG. I'm like a kid in a candy store.![]()
Great choice! Maybe there should be a CAOJ club within the Alleva club...

. Of course I'm only kidding.Now...with an actual cap is the neck machined thicker and radiused as opposed to this laminate approach?
Yeah, I think the strings were probably most of it, but yours was also a tad heavier, maybe about 1/2 pound, that might have been part of it too. NEVER sell that bass!!!I got to a/b my Inca LG with Vic's burst LG...they're a little more different than I thought they might be "for being the same spec."
I think at least part of it is the DA XL170's on mine vs the "Turkish" strings that Vic said Jimmy thought were on there when he bought it...
Anyone know what those might be, 'cause I really liked them!

Yes,,It is the former and although the OP on the bass said the latter I remember that bass when it was in the shop and Jimmy telling me about it. He didn't mention anything about a separate laminate of maple he just called it capped. So, I question what's in there......but I suspect and simple cap of DN on a radius-ed neck piece ALA fender..
BTW I was and am very intrigued by that.

Cool....I spoke to Jimmy too and I believe he used the laminate approach. I was more trying to confirm my understanding of the original Fender approach with my post. ...Thanks.
I have one of these builds on order![]()

Diglo congrats you did it !
Which one did you order Standard or Classic ?
And which fretboard-wood? Thought about having straplocks installed ?
Backorder time still 10 to 12 months ?
I heard Jimmy was getting a CNC machine , i am not sure if this will effect the quality.
But i guess it will shorten the backorder period.
I am in the same situation: looking desperately for a used LG 5, but cant stand waiting ( 2x) ...( you have to wait for Jimmy also so..)
Also diggin the CAOJ colour!

I thought he was getting CNC machine this month, but you can't rush quality & perfection.
Probally, We've probally all seen the vintage fender neck date pics.
Here are 2 so you can see the construction.

Yes, I believe that is rare/unusual. It's common for early CBS basses to use ANY parts that were around the factory from Pre turn over, so it's likely your neck was made 60-62 and then used on the bass from 11-65.
Corse,,,Ask Jimmy he knows a lot more than most...
