Yes it is! It's pretty amazing. I agree with you... I LOVE the pastel type colors with a maple board, but not matching headstock. Matching looks great to me with a RW or ebony board, but I love the continuous maple sort of thing from the board to the headstock with the LM.

Thought you guys might like to see pics of the RootBeer LM5 from the 2009 Namm show - same one I got my KBP5 from!

The LM5 is a great playing bass.

Rubbish last picture of this bass but a big improvement on the ones we've had up until now!

And a gratuitous one of my lovely P Bass which I may have to sell - still really sweating between this and my Skjold!?/£"$^&&***

what body wood is on the root beer bass , I dig that color , nice !

Its an ash body- here is a pic with the tort guard too.

Cool that we met..the red one ( RA4) is killer!

Mitch ... I was about to send you a nasty note for not giving me first option to buy it ... Never mind :-)
In my opinion, your bass is the best LM5 that i've played since Jimmy started building.

it sure is nice , im totally having a hard time deciding on a new 4 string , I will admit im a Sadowsky guy but totally was impressed at namm by Jimmies basses , I guess from what I understand from all who own AC basses is that they are a more vintage less modern sounding bass , I do have a 1967 jazz and a 1973 P bass ( fenders ) but I don't always like to take my 67 jazz out to gigs , it just depends on where it is , I could never replace that bass , it has allot of sentimental value to me , I am 45 and have had it sense I was 17 , it is alder with a rose wood board , I was thinking of my next bass to be a vintage jazz type and would probably go with a ash /maple combo , I know your red one is alder/ maple , that sounded great , too many choices but I am leaning towards the AC because I have a Sadowsky standard 5 jazz , ash /maple , it is a great bass , I dont know yet but is good to be able to get all this info here , thanks again

lol Jason.....I'll definately let you know if it EVER has to go. Its a gem for sure, and the only reason it would ever go up for sale is if another one- piece neck LM beats it out in a year or so...;)

Missed you at NAMM- hope all is well.

Well, both the RA and LM 4s had an authentic Fender Jazz tone when I played them back to back in Jan.
Also, I put a '78 steel bridge on the RA and I cant believe how it sounds (and I do have early 70s Fenders).

I found that my RA4 is even closer in tone to a Fender than the 5s- no huge surprise here of course- so I dont think you would go wrong with an AC4 in any model and keep your other baby safe at home.
