+1 Amazing pictures and basses.

It is fun to have absolutely zero bass G.A.S. anymore. I guess it is rare to have an instrument (in my case, my LM) so perfectly match the 'sound in your head' that you lose interest in pretty much everything else (my Sadowsky NYC ash/maple with singles is the only other bass I play). Combine that with super light weight (which I guess is not available in the current LM's... that's really a shame IMO), and a neck that I literally have not had to adjust in the three+ years that I've owned the instrument, with virtually no dead spots, and action that can go much lower than I personally need it to go with no buzzes or clanks, and it is pretty much heaven!

Obviously with all the churn and buying and selling that goes on here with the A-C's, these basses aren't unique in that way, but the LM just happened to exactly fit every requirement I have for a bass. I feel quite lucky, and never have felt this way about another instrument regarding tone, balance, weight, action, neck stability and aesthetics. It is literally perfect!

I don't think it's really all that rare to have an instrument you truly love that much, but I do think it's a bit rare for someone to have found that match and yet continue to be as active on a forum like you've done (but I think that's cool).

I think that's just a function of the way any forum works tho. The very active folks on a forum like this have one or both of two attributes... on a quest with questions (typical/majority), or simply very enthusiastic about the topic and choose to remain very active despite the end to their quest (less common). IMHO, people who found their "true mate" tend to just leave and maybe just lurk from time to time just to see what's going on, but not really participate a lot.

So while I do think it is a bit rare for someone to wanna' stick around and significantly contribute despite the fact they're pretty much "done" regarding their own needs, I do think it's kinda' cool when they do... and it's OBVIOUS every time I see a vid or hear a clip, that LM IS your true mate. I'm not sure I've ever heard a bass sound better in your hands... ever.

+1 90% of my posts are on the amp part of the site. Not much to say anymore on the bass side... post a few pics when the new A-C thread pops up, answer questions, and otherwise just play:bassist:

+1 I actually don't necessarily agree with Vic's hypothesis that there are lots of players who have found 'the one' and just don't post. I know plenty of players who are relatively happy with their instruments (I sure have never played an instrument for years that I wasn't relatively happy with), but it is very, very rare that one instrument matches every facet of one's requirements. I know that has never happened to me in 30+ years of playing, and I'm not sure I even know anyone else in my loose network of 100 or so peers that feels that way about their primary instrument.

I guess that's why I posted up.... never happened before (other than the typical first few weeks 'love affair' with a good instrument). This one is coming up on almost four years now, and it sounds and feels better on every gig.

Anyway, just posting up given what I think it is a rare feeling/situation that I've surely never experienced before.

The good news is, while I'm very happy with my amplification, there's always louder, fatter and lighter coming along:bassist:... so my general gear hog status is not in danger yet!

I can see your point here. I guess it just boils down to how particular you are... I can see it being a HUGE challenge for someone with very exacting prefs. I'm kinda' on the other side of the fence, tho... despite the fact that I do churn gear, it's not because I haven't found any that I could literally be 100.00% happy with the rest of my life, it's simply because I enjoy the adventure.

So in my case, there really is no singular "the one". I've already found several of them. I'm just assuming (maybe incorrectly) that most people aren't as exacting in their prefs as you are, so finding a bass they can literally 100.00% bond with is not as much of a challenge. Again, that's an assumption, just as how you are seems typical to you, how I am seems typical to me, and there may be no reliable way of knowing what the real majority is.

Anyway, FWIW, and it certainly doesn't take away from the significance of your situation.

Diglo- IMO the KBP is about as good as a P gets. It's a tiny bit more clear and transparent than any P I've had but plenty of grit and growl. Also the 5 has a B that sounds like it belongs on a P.

I owned a wonderful KBP5 for about a year with a DN board, nitro finish and bent plate bridge. Set up with TI flats, it was a wonderful bass and I do miss it. It pairs nicely with my LG5 and Sadowsky UV70 (which will be replaced by my LM when it arrives).

In any case I loved playing the KBP5 and as mixbass said it is THE BEST 5 string P bass out there without question. The problem for me was with the consistency of tone on my gigs. For the most part the musicians I play with know me, my playing and my gear. While I loved the versatility I was finding that other musicians didn't know what to expect from me and for that reason I decided to stay a J bass guy only. I hope that makes sense.

I just got cold feet about selling my baby... Maybe when my LM5 is here I will manage to part ways with her. Besides, if I am gonna take this much of a loss I might as well get some more use out of her.

Yohann, smart move. Compare it to your LM before you lose it and then make the best choice for you. You wont have the doubts and second guessing later :).

+1 in a big way. You will have the rare opportunity to A/B prior to selling one. They will sound quite different, so it should be a very easy decision once you spent a couple hours with each side by side.

Unfortunately I do not have any right now but I am working on changing that as we speak...I am only playing Music Mans and P basses at the moment. It will probably stay that way for a while because of the gig but I am lusting after one of Jimmy's Ps in the worst possible way!!! I have a line on one now that I am trying to put something together on...:hyper:
