Hey guys I know I've mentioned this in the past but I'd like to mention it again......
If anyone is interested in selling an LG5 with a DN board, nitro finish and bent plate bridge, preferably with a matching headstock but color is not that important.
There are a number of people interested in my LG5 with Honduran Board, if I find one of these and decide to sell it. No need to send me an email that you'd be interested in my LG unless unless it's part of a swap for what I'm looking for..

Did anyone characterize the diffs between this and his standard Indian board like mine has?
Don't get me wrong, I'm TOTALLY not looking to change a thing, but I was just curious. Plenty has been said about the DN of course, but I can't remember what folks have generally said about the Honduran.
That particular bass seemed just a touch more aggressive in the upper mids to me when I played it (versus the more airy upper treble 'ping' of my particular LG, and the more relaxed upper mids). However, there is no way that can be accurately attributed to the board, since every bass sounds a bit different. I remember it being a very pretty board though... with some figuring versus the 'pure dark chocolate' look of my Indian board.
Bright and Tight,,, Sits between maple and rosewood according to Jimmy. When I first started talking to Jimmy and he didn't have this newest batch of DN he talked UP the Honduras.

Hey Andrew,
That's definitely how I heard this bass when I spent some time with it. Not nearly as aggressive and bright as my LM, but less 'old school' than my particular LG with the Indian Board. It was a bit heavier than mine (my LG is REALLY lightweight), which also might have had an impact.
I really liked that particular bass.. kind of like a 60's J with a bit of a more modern voicing... tighter and brighter. I guess maybe it is the board, since your and Jimmy's comment describes what I heard pretty closely.
Paul Turner's latest LG5 had this board and I agree with the thoughts on it so far... That's why I decided to get this board on my LM5-Rosewood. I hope to keep some of what makes a 70's J what it is but tame it down ever so slightly.
I just hope there's a way to darken it a bit as it looked red-ish from what I can remember.

I agree,,It does look reddish. I also decided that this combo would probably make the best 5 string for me.
Of coarse I'm looking for unique personalities from my fours and hoping for one fiver that is versatile and even sounding.

My LM5 has a honduras rosewood board. I really enjoy. I had a LG5, awhile back, with the DN board. It was a lil too warm for my taste.

these are all the most beautiful basses i've ever seen! 'cept the poop on a stick for a headstock
+1 It took me minute, but now I dig the headstock. I think after you find out what a great bass you have, it makes the headstock that much better.

Headstock: reminds me of my early G&L's, so there was no adaptation period for me to like them

Sound guy at the club knew what the UL410 was, but hadn't seen either an AC nor the Walkabout, and quizzed me on both after the show and noted it was "the fattest most articulate tone" he'd heard in months, and wanted to know how that conglomeration of things came together.
I'd recently switched to Jimmy's Turkish Stainless strings, and I like them so far.

Man, I bet that sounded GREAT. I didn't have my LG when I had my Walkabout, but that just seems like a great combination, and the Walkabout worked quite well with the 410UL for me.. tightened it up a bit in the mids and warmed it up too. Awesome.
The headstock thing..... aesthetics is such a personal thing. I totally dig it. And, I can totally understand those who don't dig it... it is 'unique'

The AC headstock, and one from one other manufacturer I know of, just struck me as "butt ugly" the first time I saw them. However, in both cases, I've actually grown to like them. In Jimmy's case, it's gone from hate to like. In the other case, it's actually gone from hate to love.
The other thing of course (as long as we're "going there"), is the pickguard/control plate issue. That one has gone from dislike to indifference. I don't like it, but I don't dislike it. I just now consider it a characteristic of the beast. I understand why Jimmy made the choices he did though, and at least that makes it easier for me to be ok with.
Regardless, I totally get where you're coming from, but at least that's no longer an issue for me, and very thankfully so, because as I've gushed enough about, I love this LG.
As always, wonderful playing, wonderful recording, wonderful tone. Great sounding P... fat and warm. Of course, I'd love to hear that track with the growl of your LG on those slides, etc.... but that's just me
