IMHO, if that day comes (and it's entirely possible it will, 'cause very few out there are trying hard to nail the faithful tone thing like that), I'm pretty sure all that'll count will be the name on the headstock. :)

Well, I'd change my tune if I thought Jimmy would ever sell his company off or otherwise lose any element of control over product quality and consistency, because then the product would be subject to significant risk of losing the magic, but I seriously doubt that'll happen, so I stand by my comment. :p :)

In other words... BAD ANALOGY... HAH! :D

Edit: I still think it's awesome you played for that Israeli band. :)

+1 My LG is paperlight... lighter than my NYC Sadowsky, and is just fantastic... probably right at 8 pounds or so (my LM feels a bit over 8.5... my bathroom scale is not accurate enough to hone in on an exact weight... just guessing based on how they feel versus my 8.6 pound Sadowsky).

My RA was quite a bit heavier... maybe 10 pounds or a touch under.

Not sure if the LG5's are going to have the new body shape or not... I assume so, since Jimmy mentioned that the primary reason for that was to balance the look of the wider neck.

Kind of confusing in A-C land at the moment.

I'll have to weigh mine when I finish moving. I think my KBP5 is in the 8 to 8.5 range, but my LG5 is somewhere around 9.5.

haha I agree....I totally forgot to take into account the fact that Leo SOLD Fender to CBS to make "CBS era" basses in the first place....so my theory will only stand if Jimmy sells the company to an owner who decides to go big and cut quality for quantity....which I also really don't see happening to Alleva-Coppolo. And oh my do I wish I was on that gig RIGHT NOW! :D

Hey guys i totalley agree, that Harvest Gold is an eye catcher
on a maple neck combination.

For my LG5 5 on order i was considering Aged Olympic White or CAOJ or Harvest Gold (!) , but i am not sure if the Harvest Gold goes with the rosewood neck? any thoughts or pics on that one?

Also checked the Mustard Gold but that one is too 'bronze-like".

Somebody on TB owns a Harvest Gold Celinder with Rosewood board (can't remember who), and it looks pretty darn good. The key (IMO) would be to make sure you get a very brown/very dark piece of rosewood... since too much of the red that is in many pieces of RW would clash with that gold in a nasty way. Most of Jimmy's RW boards (especially the default Indian boards) seem to be very dark, which would work pretty well.

Mine will get an Indian Rosewood board.

Ps : is that a matching headstock on the Celinder?
I must say i really like the combi Harvest Gold /RW if dark as suggested.
Not shure about the headstock.

It looks like it is a matching headstock. I'm a big fan of matching headstocks with dark boards, since sometimes that bright maple headstock can be a bit of a disconnect when contrasted with the board and the body. However, on a light colored finish like Harvest Gold, I think you could go either way.

Thanks! It's been my 'go to' bass for over three years now... coming up on four!

I have fond memories of purchasing it. It was hanging on the wall for a while at the old NY shop (my guess is, since many guys want that super heavy weight on a 70's J, this very lightweight one didn't 'float that boat'). I saw the picture on Jimmy's old website and it just spoke to me.

So, I called the shop. Someone answered the phone (not Jimmy) and I started to ask him about the bass (weight, etc.). He was kind of like 'yeah, yeah, yeah', since I assume shops like this get a zillion calls from people who never buy. So, after about a two minute conversation, I said 'OK, I'll take it'. I still chuckle today.. the guy almost dropped the phone. All of a sudden, Jimmy is on the phone all excited!

I dug the whole vibe of that old shop and the kind of 'cool, someone wants to buy one of our basses' sort of thing.

I gigged it a few days after it came, and just totally fell in love with it (as has pretty much everyone who has played it and heard it).
