Asked for it? He made it so. It's to pay homage to his family on his mother's side, who has a very rich history in the NYC area. As I understand, his legal name is simply Jimmy (assume James) Coppolo.

I'm not sure if I understood what you wrote. I was just referring to a post I thought I remembered somewhere here on talkbass where he said he preferred the basses to be referred to as Coppolos for short.

+1 I think Vic got confused on the question. Coppolo is Jimmy's last name, and that's what he prefers the basses to be called if you are using only one name. Vic's story is correct though, that Alleva is I believe his mother's maiden name if I remember that old post.

I have 1175$ deposit by him & he cut the body & the neck already.

Yeah its a LG4 , alder body , maple neck , Indian rosewood fretboard .
All the rest like color , finish etc. can be decided by the one who take the order from me as long that it's done fast before Jimmy finish this bass.
Otherwise it will be a basic one & white or sunburst i didn't decide yet.

Old topic, but I just got my LM5 back to Detroit after a long stay in a remote location, and was able to weigh it.... 9.2 pounds. So, my two A-C's and my Sadowsky are all pretty much within that 'sweet spot' weight IMO (8.5 to 9 pounds)..

I've been playing the LM through my new Bergantino AE212 and the Markbass F500 today, and boy oh boy, is that sweet... nice and grindy and a bit ganky like a 70's style J should be, but just mega fat down low. That's the rig for that bass IMO!
