I don't think I noticed pics of this one before - wow that burst is stunning!!!!
Well Chef, that is THE question of the moment for me... I've gone back and forth about it. I figure I will decide right before we send it to paint.
What I've gone through in my head:
Black (Original order, but it covers the grain so no more - probably for my LG instead)
Natural
Trans Black
Trans Green
I think I want black blocks and binding like an RA and any of those colors should work with it, right? And black pickguard.

I STRONGLY urge you to go with a lighter trans or burst... maybe even better, natural with maybe a vintage tint? Thanks! That is an "iced tea burst." It really is a nice look with alder, I think. And the neck/headstock has some nice figuring/flaming, as well. But of course, it plays & sounds 10x better than it looks!

Well yes, initially an LM... But with black blocks & binding with the truss rod nut at the heel, it's more of an RA-Ash according to Jimmy.
If we go bullet truss rod at the headstock then it's an LM w/ black blocks & binding.
So I don't know... I'll just call it an Alleva-Coppolo YC5, haha.

This stuff is getting WAY too confusing and will only continue to make things tough on AC buyers....

Ash/maple with any pickup config or color of blocks and binding or lack of or placement of truss rod nut it should be considered an LM variation...
Alder/Maple with any pickup config or color of blocks and binding or lack of or placement of truss rod nut it should be considered an RA variation...
Alder/Rosewood with any pickup config or color of blocks and binding or lack of or placement of truss rod nut it should be considered an LG variation...
Ash/Roseweood should be its own model perhaps an AR...

Love the binding as well, I have the same color LG-5 without the bindings. Really sets it off, very cool!

+1 all the way. Really, just four models (RA, LM, LG, KP) with some options. I would not even call ash/RW a model... just a RW board option on an LM.
Coming up on 2 years with my RA-5 and I still LOVE it.

I don't even think anyone needs to waste time being confused... It's just a model name and you as a player don't even need to be concerned if you didn't want to.
You want a certain bass with a certain config, you call Jimmy and order what you want, given it's within what he does... He assigns a model name and you get your bass.
I don't think it's all that crucial for potential buyers to understand the name of the bass they're buying. As long as they know what specs they want and the bass comes out that way then that's that.
Yea that makes sense ONLY if your buying new and having Jimmy build the bass to your specs but if your shopping used AC's it makes things very confusing and creates lots of extra questions...

+1...when buying used it definitely causes confusion. I know that the LowEnd has had AC's for sale with the wrong model name and the wrong woods listed because of this. Ken bought an RA that was listed as an LM and ended up getting alder/maple instead of ash/maple. (This RA didn't have blocks/binding). Then there was that trans blue bass on LowEnd listed as an RA (had black blocks/binding) but that one ended up being ash/maple and an LM (or an RA/ash or whatever)...
