And I have to add shots of my board... still can't get over how great a piece of rosewood it is for being the "standard" stuff...

Per Vic's comment above... nothing 'standard' about any of the wood Jimmy uses. The Indian boards are also 'old wood' from what I understand... mine looks ancient. The only reason there is no upcharge is that the Indian RW is not as rare due to overforesting as the Brazilian at this point, and has a bit of the 'post CBS' taint associated with it. However, trust me, part of the relatively high base price of these instruments is the wood stock, regardless of type of wood.

I love that look also. I totally dig the 'binding no blocks' look... kind of brings to mind those high end jazz guitars (Benedetto, etc.)

You are correct, and I can add a bit more.

There are two reasons it's standard and also particularly awesome. He found both a very old stock of it, and also a very large one.

When I spoke to Jimmy, he said he got a BUNCH of Indian Rosewood from some supplier who'd literally had it for many years, and it was older even when they acquired it. I don't remember the exact details, but I think the math worked out such that this rosewood is from the 70's, or maybe even from the 60's? Anyway, he's got a bunch of it, so no need to panic about availability, but it is kind of a big deal with the AC basses IMHO. Could easily be the best rosewood board I've ever owned on any instrument... and in my case, that's saying a lot.
