LOL! That's actually upstairs from my office, but yes, the load-bearing capacity of the floor is definitely a major concern. You should see the stacks of gear I have crammed in there! :eek: :help: :D

Thanks! To add, I've never really been too concerned with weight. That if the LM I was building landed at 11 lbs or so I would be ok. But this thing rocks at 9.5 lbs!

I'm almost certain that if ordered that way he would, like the older basses... But I've never seen him do that to his own preamp, just Aguilar's. That's interesting. I should ask him.

Not diggin' the control layout? That is the signature look I love about Jimmy's basses... No control plate! I've never really liked that about J basses.

I agree. I've never liked the look of stacked pots. This is a great solution to that.

Now that you mention it, my initial comment was actually towards the sonic goodness if both stacks were rockin'... That's enough to shake a house off it's foundation. But the actual weight of the stuff is also another thing to look at.

I tend to agree with the others posting that the current layout is kinda' part of the look, which I've also become accustomed to. I do have some basses with stacked controls, however, and I don't mind them at all, but at least on my AC, I like it the way it is. YMMV tho.

That's actually one of the things I don't like about Jimmy's basses (I'd rather either see a control plate, or see a pickguard that doesn't end as if it's connecting to a control plate), but I'm willing to deal with it. That's all personal preference, though, and of course YMMV.

I hear ya on the pickguard, I tried to suggest kinda rounding off that part; like make it a curve instead of a bend; but then Xotic did that and I don't think Jimmy liked the idea anyway. I do dig the beveled edge on that part as it makes it look like you're not missing the plate... Kinda.

Yeah, I don't mind the lack of a control plate, so long as the pickguard doesn't look like it's supposed to transition into one. Like I said, I can deal with it, but it's not one of the features that makes me love my LG4 (which I do, regardless :cool:).

And to be clear, I have no problem at all with the knob layout, itself.

I took a slightly different approach with the control set. I don't mind how it looks stock, but I put a 4mm clear plexi foundation under my PG. The 3D effect really makes the PG "pop", and somehow it and the control set seem to work together visually a bit better. It may not be to everybody's taste, but have a look...

GAH! No way Jose... this bass has a KILLER slap tone, don't wanna' mess witt dat!! :)

Tho I will very readily admit, it would make a fantastic fretless... also somewhat reminiscent of someone we all know from days gone by. :)
