Hey Vic;
did you screw down that pickguard, or make faux/cut down screws and tape it on?
Neither. The pic I took with it "installed" (below) was just with the guard setting on it. Truth be told, I could almost play it that way. It fit so snugly it would not need much help to stay put. Maybe a couple small double-stick dots here and there. Not sure I'd worry about the screw heads, but it was an interesting idea.

y'all are givin' me some serious gas. I gotta get one (or two) :hiding: of these thing.

Anyone want to buy my Harley? or trade me a KBP5 and LG5 for it? :ninja:
Oooohhhh, I sense an opportunity to torture here... I'm on that... :)

Check this board out dude... and this is his standard stuff... no upgrade!

right...so, it's not wearing a guard then, currently...
Correct. So far, the guard's only been on there for that picture just to sorta' see what it'd be like. To date, I have yet to wanna' install it, but still, per my earlier comments in the (long since closed) thread segment where I first got it, I do like the look, so I'm glad I have the guard just in case. :)

I still want me a J without a guard... I always thought a 4-string 70's style funk machine would be cool... Maybe sometime I'll have Jimmy make me one. But the neck pocket has to be deeper beyond the current spec cause there is too much space there without the guard.

Hey Yohann,

Actually, the shallow neck pocket is the main reason why I added the plexi under my PG on the LG4. I'd think the deeper neck pocket through carefully, though - there is some magic in that shallower pocket. Of course, you have the best source of all to bounce that off of. ;)

going back to the earlier posts on the AC preamp....Yohan, would Jimmy be down to do a bass with the old boost/cut circuit? Back in 2005 I played a KBP4 in the NYC shop and it had the boost/cut circuit which sounded INCREDIBLE! I asked him if he would install it in my bass and he said "sorry, but I don't do those anymore"....but that was back when he was hesitant to even do block inlays so maybe things have changed?

I'm always down to ask him whatever but I haven't heard anything about a boost/cut circuit so I doubt it. I haven't even wondered myself since his preamp is quite great as is.

oh yeah, I LOVE the sound of the boost only circuit....not sure if jimmy has any basses still around with it but you MUST hear that pre if you can....a little bass boost and a bit of treble cut just sounded AMAZING on that KBP4 and I would love to have that pre in another bass if possible....I recall Jimmy telling me he had made that bass for a friend a while ago and was selling it for him to pay for some kind of medical bills for his daughter....the next time I went to the shop it was gone....

hmm, what did it look like? a couple years ago he had a mutt he put together for a friend that he said he had done years ago. a schecter neck with a fender headstock and his logo, mounted on a fender body. he said it had his old circuit in it that he didnt make anymore.
