I'd put up pics of my KBP4 Classic but I don't know how! Anyway, it looks exactly like Timothy of Hong Kong's, except no ash tray and I have the clover leaf tuners with a string tensioning bar behind the nut like on the 5's. A-C B0015, original owner.

Hey Mike,
Yes I have a few more spreads for one piece LM5's. If you or anyone needs info about the shop please contact me directly. Yohan is my friend who as a huge favor helps me from time to time. I'm sure it's not a big deal to Yohan that some of you ask him questions BUT I'd prefer you contact the shop directly. Besides Yohan has been real busy playing his new bass :).

Post NAMM St. Valentines BASSacre
Alleva-Coppolo Bass Hang
February 12th 2011 San Diego!!!
Just wanted to remind you all about the Bass hang I am hosting February 12th 2011. I have scheduled guest builders, and a few other surprises. If you missed NAMM or any of the other bass themed shows you won’t want to miss this. Come speak in person with some of your favorite bass builders and Industry manufactures like Rob Elrick-Elrick Basses, Rob Allen- Rob Allen Basses, Pat Wilkins- Wilkins Guitar Finishes, Peter Montessi A-Design, and of course myself Jimmy Coppolo. Visit our friends of Bass San Diego who will be exhibiting the latest acquisitions they just picked up at NAMM. Upon final schedule confirmation there will be some guest appearances and possible clinics by some of your favorite high profile players/ artists. Don’t sleep on this one it’s going to be a great event to add to your Valentine’s Day weekend- most importantly it’s FREE. The venue is small, space is limited, time and tickets are running out. Invites (including show/hang info) are on a first come first serve basis, RSVP me Jimmy Coppolo by e-mail: [email protected] or by phone (909)981-9019.
Also scheduled: local instrument inlay artist Arlene Goulart. The event will be covered by the folks at Bass Player Magazine.

The 3 knobs were roundish and had these little swirly things around them too....did you play it? The pre sounded amazing and at the time I was paying Jimmy to put his pre in my Fender jazz and asked him if he would do the old design for me and he just said he doesn't do it anymore :crying:

That was a different generation in the evolution of the preamp that I am doing now. The current preamp works best the way it is now with the boost only. At this time I do not get enough requests for that generation preamp and even if I did I am so invested in the current one that I would take a big loss changing back. If you have to have a cut you can experiment with a different potentiometer. Personally I feel the bypass works better. Hey but what do I know? :smug:

I built that bass around 1995 or 1996 when I was working out of shop in Dallas Texas. The neck is a one piece maple neck and the body is ash. I built a few basses around that time just like it. Last year around this time Narud, you posted and claimed that I started to build one pice maple necks in 2010 and only due to the compitition. Nothing can be further than the truth and that bass from '95 or '96 is the proof. I built that bass and other one piece maple neck basses years before many of my competitiors were in business. I know the post was written over a year ago but you may want to check your facts next time before you make certain claims like that. It came across uncool and not only could it have caused some drama it is misleading.

what bass are we talking about? the bass with the fender headstock? unless we're talking about something different, you told me that bass had a schecter neck.

Thats a great Idea Jimmy! .. Alleva Coppolo Mini NAMM.. :) This can be a real good hang.. And im guess ing other vendors will be there too..
I think REDDI was talking about it..

Not for nothing, but many builders used other vendors when they built prototypes and early production.... which may not be the case in this situation..And it was early on in the Alleva line.. perhaps Serial # 3 or 4 .. My bud has #1.. And Way before he had the majority of his machines. In fact that neck would have had to been reshaped buy hand files and fretted with tap hammer..
I have played very very early Sadowsky basses that had ESP logo'd necks.. In fact, my friend has that early ESP sadowsky in Sonic Blue.. ESP engraved on the back of the headstock.. They were great as well as the early 80s Sadowskys with Anderson necks and bodies. All of which were very very good and very sought after in a small circle of my friends and collectors..
I dont think you are old enough to remember that era though.. it was early on

Since this bass is very early in the alleva bass build.. it is possible it was a prototype..

i dont think theres a problem at all with using supplied parts from a vendor (which may not even be the case if we're all talking about a different bass!), but it sounded like the issue was i said he started offering a one piece neck on the 5 string jazzes only after carey started doing it (in all fairness, george didnt start offering one piece necks on the vf5's until after he saw carey doing it)

my point was that if we're talking about the same bass than the schecter neck he refretted that was one piece is a different situation than the stuff he's building now so offering it as proof that he was doing it first didnt really make sense. at least in my opinion;)

well Jimmy and i have been talking about one piece necks about since 2005 or earlier.
I think fender beat cary to making one piece necks by a few decades :)

What i like about George F and Jimmy is that they each make their own stuff, in house, from tree trunks..

hell, i still think fender got the whole thing right decades ago :eek: if i didnt play 5's i wouldnt even own an f bass or a nordy or had considered picking up an ac in the first place.
