im curious as well. im using a couple levys bags with some nitro basses and havent noticed anything weird yet either

I used an iGig when I owned my A-C. The Protec Contego that came with it was a decent mid-quality bag, but I wanted something more rugged. The iGig is much heavier than the Contego, but its padding is also much thicker. I still use my iGig for my main bass.
This case discussion happened earlier in this thread, refer to the earlier pages. What kind of clothes/fabrics do you wear when you play your A/C basses? Are they nitro safe?
It continues to be a topic of interest since, at least in the past, the A-C's were shipped in really low end flimsy bags that I would not choose to use with a $4K+ instrument. So, many of us chose to purchase a different bag, but the number of choices are overwhelming, and vary greatly by storage capacity, protection and weight.

well my bag was made in the late 80's early 90s so it may be constructed differently....but the inside side of the zipper started wearing the paint off my KBP5 within the first 2 weeks of owning it....sounds like you're ok then....but I only use IGig bags now regardless
+1. I had a 1600 Limited that came with the flimisiest gig bag I have ever seen, a real p.o.s., and definately not what you would expect to come with a very high dollar instrument. Go figger....

I had a Villete-Citron fall off a stand right after I got it back in the day and push the tuners into the headstock. We just all stood there and looked at it laying on the concrete floor after it did one good bounce. Amazingly, it was repaired 'good as new'.

i was traumatized for about a hour after the gig and then was over it. i think i was more pissed off about having to pay for the repairs AND the traffic tickets/traffic school i still havent paid off yet

Got an Igig from Jimmy with my LM. Also have a Mono dual bass case, which is heavier but provides more protection and less storage. Also have the rectangular version of the Sadowsky portabag which provides a lot of protection of a traditional hard shell with significantly less weight. For me it's perfect to have all 3.
They all have there uses depending on where I am headed. Which at the moment is nowhere.
Personal update I gave up my band back in June you all might remember and now spend Friday night changing diapers and reading bed time stories, my chops are terrible but I couldn't be happier. Carter is already 18 months old for those that remember i am hanging onto a weekly jazz jam on the upright but only by a thread and some other less formal stuff. The cover band just won best cover band on long island, placed in the top 3 for the last 4 years the band was my baby for the better part of ten years.

Pete i know how hard it must have been to give up playing with a good band, but family comes first and it looks like you are enjoying fatherhood a bunch, in due time when the baby gets bigger and is in school i am sure you will go back to gigging a lot more, but these young years are great bonding years for the little ones. Hope to see you at the April Get together Mitch is trying to put together.
Ivan you'll get no complaints from me life is good. I will also be bringing along the valenti I picked up at the NYC gtg. Love that bass too.

+1...I would still use my Portabag for the majority of my gigs. But I do a couple per year where I have to have my gear loaded in a van/trailer so it would be nice to have a hard case for those times. Also I'd probably keep it in the G&G while at home. There something really cool about opening a vintage case like that to take out a vintage styled bass like an A-C. Those cases even end up giving the bass a "vintage scent" when it's been stored there...
Dude i don't blame you for loving that VALENTI, i also love mine, i did ask Mitch if it was ok for me to bring my Valenti and the Sadowsky since i know it is more of an Alleva-Coppolo hang and he said it was fine, i know its a mini hang out but i cant wait to hang with some seriously talented bass players and jamm a little and shoot the breeze about our bass obsessions, LOL...Be well my friend and see you guys soon. I will also be bringing my camera to take lots of pics to post on here as well.

I can totally relate. When my kids were first born it was really tough to balance gigging and family time. I missed a bunch of gigs but was totally OK with it because spending time with my kids was a worthwhile tradeoff. I used subs on my gigs for a while but stuck with the band for the long haul. 11 years with the same band at this point!
