Club Alleva-Coppolo (Part 16)

Ok,got bass yesterday at 3pm. Played it for about 15 minutes before getting ready for gig. It was everything I'd hoped for and more. The neck is flat and wide like I like. The weight is good at 9.4 lbs.. Balance is perfect. Love the bigger body. The color was a bit of a surprise. It is kinda like black cherry glitter type finish. It is something to see in person. Traveled to gig and had no time to get used to bass. I felt good about using it since it felt so familiar. Once show started it did take me a couple of sets to get used to it. Once the strings loosened up a little it was a utopian world. The sound coming out the mains was sick. My soundman kept shaking is head the entire night in amazement of how well the bass cut through. I'm totally stoked about this bass. It does everything well. It has no weaknesses. This is what sets it apart from the rest. It does need a neck tweak. It bowed back a little coming down to NewOrleans in this humid environment. Here are some pics :

Hey congratulations on your new instrument! The big body is a great choice for a 5 I think, I have a big body KBP5 in process. It makes sense to me that if the neck is 20% wider than a 4, the body should be, too. Anyway, best of luck with your new bassoon!

I actually love the feel of my smaller body KBP5 and RA5 and I personally thought it was a great design that Jimmy should have either stuck with or kept an option for people who wanted that. I find absolutely nothing wrong with the balance of my ACs nor has the thought of "man, I wish this body was a bit wider to match the neck" ever crossed my mind. The idea of a heavier, wider body is even kind of a turn off to me but I haven't had the pleasure of trying one....:crying:

Not at all neccessarily heavier....the ACs I weighed at NAMM were approx 9-10 pounds . There may have only been one or two that were heavier than that. He thinned them out a touch front to back also. I really like the way they look and it dident get in the way of the balance or comfort for me at all :)

Beat me to the point!

I can verify that the "supposedly" is a reality on the weight ( at least for the NAMM 2011 basses).

Intersting....well I'd love to check out the new design....hopefully somebody will have one at the NYC AC GTG!!!! Btw guys, it's looking like April 9 will be the day, I'm just waiting to confirm with Funknasty (drummer) before I make it official!

I think JC will still make the smaller bodies on the 5's if requested. If I had the $ when the KPB5 was introduced I'd have the smaller body, too, and not really think about changing. As it was I made do with a Fender American Standard 5 string P, which was actually a very good bass. The wider body was a thought I had when looking at the Fender one day and when I saw that JC had had the same thought I was excited. So now that I do have a KPB5 in process I decided to go wid' it.

That is about the most perfect color that i have seen.. My Next Alleva will be that red for sure..
Im going to order a new LG5 soon...
