There Is a long story behind that bass. one day I will tell it here . I don't have my laptop with me and it's so hard to type on an iPhone I figured I will wait till I feel like it.
Everyone knows how crappy i type on a regular keyboard much less this little thing. Mine is the prototype to which he worked out the fit and feel. Says prototype on the backplate.
Bass killed it tonight. I like the lightweight but it burps so it can cut well in a solo spot that I have in the show. Real nice. I don't think it would sound much different than any other LG that is in it's weight category .

Oh c'mon Vic, it ain't like that although Kirk IS a pretty special guy :)... I'm sure one can get close to the shape of Kirk's, but as you know no 2 basses are exactly alike... Even the CNC'd ones once they get sanded and stuff... I'm not sure what "dinky" shape Jimmy programmed into the machine. It could very well be a standard 4-string size which would not be like Kirk's.

And yes you are right about them being popular, Jimmy has quite a few dinky 5-strings in process... Although I haven't personally seen any Ash ones... I'm curious to hear what a dinky LM5 would sound like.

Oh, ok, if you're just talking that kind of minute detail, as opposed to general model type availability, then disregard my whine. I thought you were indicating he wouldn't do other small bodies except for Kirk's... if all you're saying is he doesn't have a CNC template figured out yet, so there'll be some variance, that's absolutely no big deal at all, and in fact, might even be considered a feature to some.

Hi Guys,
Just wanted to share this one... It's a new LM that was built for a local friend of ours. It's actually the original body and neck that I was working on for myself... Til I decided on my trans white one at NAMM.

You can't really see the color too well (cell phone pic), it's trans black with a blueish tint when viewed under the white lights at the shop.

I checked that LM out yesterday. Im set on ordering an LM4. Jimmy's basses just have this mid presence that I can't find on any other bass but my '66 jazz. I even brought my Sadowsky in to compare and the Sadowsky couldn't get the mids that both the LM and the LG had to offer.

I feel the same way, my friend Mitch Starkman (basses55) and I were discussing this last NAMM... He felt that mids should come from the wood and not so much the electronics... They really do sound natural and useable when it comes from the wood.

I haven't had too much time with Sadowsky basses so I cannot compare.

I'm glad you liked the A~C's, hopefully you'll get yours soon!

As nice as that is, I REALLY like that Tea Burst/Pearloid PG number to the right. What up with that one, Yohann?

As far as I know, a fellow TB'er owns it... Why it hasn't shipped? I don't know. What's so cool about that one is the pearloid guard actually has a yellowish/goldish tint to it which matches the hardware beautifully!

By the way, a while back I mentioned an LG5 Classic being available... The neck to the right is the one for that bass...

Yeah, it's a joke how long that one has been on "layaway!" I would have bought it twice already!! :D
