Man, that looks amazing! Any chance we could hear some clips of it?Yeah man ... I have a KBP5 Modified ... J pickup (humbucker) is in 60's position ... It's one of the most versatile axes that i've ever owned ... Classic P bass growl with added punch when needed ... Mine is a mahogany body w rosewood board.
Looks nice except for the j pup. Would look better with exposed pole pieces to match the p pup, IMO.
No offense taken ... I understand the point. Personally, it sounds so good that I don't care. Initially, my hope was that he would use a solid P cover to make it match. The poles in the "j" pickup are staggered, as it is really a humbucker and not single coil. They're not nice & neatly lined up or traditional looking, so exposing them makes no sense. We did discuss a mock cover with simulated pole pieces for esthetics, but that's a more costly & time consuming option that Jimmy just hasn't gotten to yet. Personally, i don't think he's convinced that there is enough demand to continue this option/model. I think he was just trying to pacify me after many years of asking for it. Only time will tell.
As for sound clips ... None yet, but working on it.

Thats right.. I forgot . .That bass has the Hum Cancelled J pickup.... It was kind of nice looking under the hood...

Yeah, for better or worse, that's pretty much the only good way to do a PJ since the P humbucks by itself. Otherwise, the PJ is just too noisy too much of the time due to fact the J will always have the SC hum going on any time you use it.
I think I'm gonna' do the unthinkable... I'm gonna' put a blend pot in my LG. I was playing it a bunch over this weekend and man, I really miss the master volume thing. 
So I'll have blend, and then master vol with the push/pull on it, then passive tone, EQ.

Do what works for you. If you like a blend, go for it.

What's unthinkable about that? I'd do that mod on all my jazzes if I where more handy and played out more. I keep both my pups on 100% volume no matter what I am playing.

Sit down with Mitch (bass doubler) and you will find out just how versatile VVT is. I've always been a VVT fan but he really can do things a blend knob cannot.
Of course use what you've most comfortable with I'm not saying otherwise.

I don't argue they're slightly different.
It's just way easier for me to tweak one knob on the fly on stage, in the middle of a song.

I feel it important to make a moment to say that I hate each and every one of you........in the most immature, seething with not so silent envy, kind of way.

I'm so bright, my mom called me son! ;-)
This is so NOT my forte, so please take this with a grain of salt, but I've read that blend pots have an affect on the highs of a bass except when at the "dent" in the middle. I hear you on wanting a master volume though. My last purchase has a master volume / blend (I didn't know that or I'd have asked for it to be otherwise), and it sure is nice to change your volume with one touch of the hand and have it not mess with your tone.
