Club Alleva-Coppolo (Part 21)

When it's not specified, "rosewood" typically = East Indian Rosewood (Dalbergia latifolia). One species, grows across India, Sri Lanka and Indonesia. Some folks market Indonesian and Sri Lankan rosewood separately, but pretty sure it's Indian. Luthiers also typically upcharge for Amazon, Honduran, Madagascar, Brazilian, Cocobolo, hybrids, whatever else. Premium brands often bring "hype buyers"...I can see how they might not be satisfied with the lack of specificity. I'd pick a fingerboard by color & grain > species any day.

I'm curious about how it'll wear too. I believe the satin is poly with a nitro top coat. It feels a bit grainy or sandy but not rough at all. My LM5 in natural satin feels a bit smoother so maybe the color makes for a slightly different feel.

Here's a question for people in the know. Are all current LG5s branded with white "alleva-coppolo" logo on pickup covers or not? I'm looking at a supposedly 2020 LG5 standard that doesn't have that, while some others do. It doesn't affect the tone if pickups are the same but it's a nice touch and I remember my old LG5 standard from 2009 didn't have it. I'm trying to verify the bass is indeed made in 2020 and that it wasn't modified.

I just sold a 2020 Classic Supreme Limited Edition, as good as it gets, the build was finished in late October. It did not have the logo on the pickup covers. He runs out of the logo covers and has to use the others. No change in tone, and logo vs no logo isn't an indicator for year build or for mod or no mod.

had a quick chat with Jimmy recently, the company who does the logo on pickup covers went out of business so they're no longer available .

Got a question for all you AC owners.
I recently got a 2015/16 AC LG and I was told by the owner that it was made for and built for a shop and person in Europe but when I opened the neck pocket it say's Built for Bass San Diego and then someone's name.
I'm just trying to gather information on the build so I truly know what it is I own.
Any ideas on how I might go about gathering this info?
Thank you in advance.
BTW, love the bass.
