When it's not specified, "rosewood" typically = East Indian Rosewood (Dalbergia latifolia). One species, grows across India, Sri Lanka and Indonesia. Some folks market Indonesian and Sri Lankan rosewood separately, but pretty sure it's Indian. Luthiers also typically upcharge for Amazon, Honduran, Madagascar, Brazilian, Cocobolo, hybrids, whatever else. Premium brands often bring "hype buyers"...I can see how they might not be satisfied with the lack of specificity. I'd pick a fingerboard by color & grain > species any day.
