Good question. I was in the studio and decided the song needed a P type sound. The LG Rosewood sounds great but I choose the LM5 for it because it had a bit more bite in the track.
Slow ballad where nuance was required.
Tone monsters but haven't quite got the LM5 down as yet.
The LG5 is already something special straight out the case, plus its pretty decent weight..Jimmy told me the body was 4.2lbs which transfers well when strung up.
Not got a lot of miles on it but already people notice the sound. I'm waiting to hear a mix back because the engr keeps on telling me the bass went down really well.
When I go back..will take the LM5 for sure.

With your '60s/70s ACs do you find the stereotype about the former being 'warmer' and the latter 'brighter' true? Personally I've always found '60s Jazzes to be plenty bright, but with a rounder sound, more in the low mids. The '70s, to my ears, don't have more highs, but a harder sound with more focus in the high mids.
I know it's not just about the fretboard, but body and pickup spacing too of course, but you always hear that rosewood is warmer as a fingerboard material, while maple is brighter. When you hear about the actual necks however, rosewood is sometimes said to be too bright (those '60s rosewood Teles for example, ok, so it's a guitar, not a bass but stil...).
Just my thoughts.
I hear a snap in the LM that I don't hear in the LG. The LG is round and punchy. The LM has snap and sizzle that makes it unique to my ears.
