Man that bass sounds killer... And it's still my dream colour combo. Just like yours Kirk. Ive spent a bit of time checking out your tour photos on your website. Some great shots. I guess your bass sounds much the same at Pauls? Lucky man!
To my understanding and if my memory serves me correct, Paul always run his LG5 passive actually.
Thats correct...Mostly passive.. 98% of the time.. He told me he has the Alleva Pre back in one of his basses... But you kno ... its not so much the pre anyway.. Its in the way he plays.. Its in his hands and attack,,,
Kirk, that's how I found jimmy actually. I read an article about Paul putting Jimmy's pre in his '78 jazz bass and I was looking for a pre to put in mine. Realized he was in NYC and the rest is history!
Hmmm good to know. I guess when I eventually get one I'll explore the passive side of things and right hand technique. Totally worth it as I love Paul's tone!
