I haven't seen anyone sporting it lately, but I'm almost sure if you really want it, and communicate with him, he'd make you a sweet bass/treble boost pedal.

Hey all. Just grabbed my first Alleva. Looking forward to trying it. It has a CNL board. I'm curious to learn more on the Cesar negro Lignum wood? Anyone know about the actual species? Any other details? I'm a wood geek!

Someone else might have a better explanation but I remember Jimmy explaining to me that its actually a cross between Dalbergia Nigra ( the species of Brazilian rosewood thats most sought after) and another Dalbergia rosewood from Brazil (?). So its not a pure-bred but its darn close. It has more of the tonal and color characteristics of Brazilian compared to Indian or Indonesian. I believe he made up the name which includes the name of his dog who passed away a few years ago ( Caesar). The ones I've tried have been great.

CNL is an hybrid Rosewood. Like @basses55 said it's a cross between Dalbergia nigra and another Brazilian Rosewood, Dalbergia spruceana.
I've only several basses with Rosewood boards but only two Alleva-Coppolo basses with rosewoods. One was CNL and my current one is Dalbergia nigra.
Both woods have their specific characteristics sound wise, at least to my ear.
CNL has more high end.
Brazilian definitely has more booty and a darker/warmer overall tone.
Slapping, plucking, fret noise and overall higher frequencies might be more noticeable on CNL.
They're both amazing, you can't go wrong with either. You'll love your AC. That is an awesome color, congratulations.
A purist might say that an alder body with a Dalbergia nigra board is the most accurate configuration for an early 60s vintage era jazz type bass. I'm not a purist but I love both options.
If you have any questions about Alleva-Coppolo, your best resource is for answers is Jimmy Coppolo. He's a great person and even though he's a one man shop, odds are he'll straighten any doubt concerning his products.

Hey @George Himmel who bought that Surf Green LG5 Classic Supreme that just posted on BSD's website? That bass is stunning. That entire batch is great, but the Surf Green is on another tier.

I was able to check out the new ACs listed on the BSD site last week at Jimmy's shop...that surf green was pretty killer. The guys at BSD asked me to rate the new basses but honestly I cant pick a clear winner out of the ones that are left....they are really consistant. I may have had a bit of an affinity for the orange one by a hair?
BTW, when I was at the store I checked out the spanish cedar LG5 still for sale and I dont know why its still there , it def a winner.
