Gig report:

Rig: Markbass F1, 2x Berg AE210
Basses: AC LG5, Sadowsky JJ5 Ash/Maple

The room was really crappy, we jammed ourselves into a space that was really too small for us all, and worse, we were playing right in front of a huge mirror.

Even with the tight sound of the AE's I actually still pulled a bit of low end out of the F1. The horrible sound in that room and the fact that I had to pretty much stand on top of my amp means I can't talk a lot about tone, but I can at least talk about cut and coherency.

As you'd expect, both basses absolutely excelled. For last night's gig, the Sadowsky actually worked a little better because it had that extra bit of edge. However, despite the fact that, during soundcheck I thought the LG might suffer from this room, I was happily wrong. Even without favoring the bridge pickup the LG absolutely had no problem maintaining a clear identity in the mix. So even from low to high, plenty of focus and clarity. And again, that "alive" thing. The LG has something special going on there. The whole bass just seemed to kinda' resonate with whatever I was playing. Way cool.

This really isn't a competition because these are different animals, but the nice thing about this is dual J gig is that the crappy room was a great way to give both basses an acid test, and they both passed with flying colors.

Sound quality should be much better tonight, so I could go back to my Epi cab, but I'm gonna stick with the same rig and see what happens.

Wow Andrew! You have 5 Alleva's?

I get to post a picture of my bass too now! Woot! [Pic. thanks to Vic]

Sorry, I know I need/should take pictures of my bass, but no one I know can really take great "bass" pictures. :scowl:
LOL, meh, it's just a digital camera shot in my basement. I totally don't care if you wanna' continue to use my pics, feel free, I take it as a compliment, but I'm sure you can do it too if you want. Nothing special about my stuff. Just an old Sony H1. :)
